COD4 - seta com_maxfps "0"

Settings things like that to 0 often act the same as infinite.

Yea you all look like fools, 0 setting makes it unlimited, its always been that way.

by setting it to 0 your actually stopping it from running frames hence why its called MAXfps

Indeed.
The com_maxfps command has been around in id engines (and derivatives) since the last millenium, and as far as I know the setting of "0" has always been used to unlimit the framerate.

To the OP: It could be that your cpu/gpu is overheating and thus throttling when you have the framerate uncapped, maybe try monitoring the clockspeeds while playing.

When you set it to zero its unlimited.So it goes to your highest fps

THANK YOU - When it's on unlimited im getting up 200 fps. And yes, the default is 85. The reson why i'm asking is that if i set it to 100 i get no freezes etc. Just wondering if some how COD4 is pushing my graphics card to hard.

this happened to me with q3, it would just freeze up, it's pain so you just have to set it high or it just freezes although it would take VERY high fps for that, suprise cod4 could get that high.

At first I thought you changed it from 0 (which I asumed would be unlimited) to 85 then I read your post again and realised you set it to 0. I never thought I would see people on this forum saying 'LMAO *** a idiot, 0 FPS rofl set it to over 9000' etc. Really if you are getting over 60fps constantly you should set it to around that, or do you just want to enjoy 200fps when you look into the sky .

125fps jumps are definetely still possible in CoD4 and get you up to a few places.

I think you should really take it a bit tongue in cheek (from most of us anyway). I didn't really know about these commands, it just sounded so obvious (and pretty funny, I don't care who you are!) that the game was "freezing" because it was at 0fps

A whole hearted apology anyway.

if its any higher some pb servers will kick you

Yes 333 is a magic number in COD4. They ban for using it in clan matches too from what I have seen.

I'd be like "sorry my pc is good enough to run COD4 at 333fps"
