Just tested your EVGA card, here is my findings:

Tested on Antec 1200W:
Heaven 4.0 lowest settings with 400fps, whine is audible without putting my head next to the card but it is not loud and in an closure I'd struggle to hear it over other case/cooling fans.

So I put details to maximum and strangely enough it still made the same amount of noise, so whereas not loud to my standards but our PSU could be helping a lot with noise level for sure it is by no means a screamer as you described, but I can hear it on our open test bench just about.

So you shall be refunded but if this card was as loud as you were saying then it could be your PSU contributing or a combination of components as its no screamer, 7990's in my experience had far greater coilwhine.

Gibbo personally tested the card and it wasn't bad at all.

It must be the PSU causing the issue as we expected.

However I will process a refund on the card for you anyway.

But i tested the card on 4 PCs with 4 different PSUs and it made the same noise as it did in my PC?

So my 2 mates and bros PSUs suck ass? Amazing!

You heard the clip i posted it was BAD! This Gigabyte is nowhere near that bad so the card must be dodgy in a way or is it just not as good as quality as the Gigabyte?

Anyways thank you both for personally testing this for me, i wanted to see what it was like on a better PSU.

My brothers doing a full new build for xmas so which PSU do you advise? Im not telling him to get a 1200W PSU for a 970 lol. Which 750W Superflower or Antec?

6 of us had a listen, one of which could not hear a thing, but he is old, so maybe why!

It was no screamer, but I could hear it without having to put my head next to it, so I class that as a fault especially when on a quality PSU. On the OP's Corsair I can suspect and imagine it to be worse, but screaming as described I am not sure.

But does not matter we shall refund it.

What surprised me more was how cheap the card felt, just felt very plastic and cheaply made, quite surprising.

For us it was nowhere near as audible, but could be due to several reasons, how close was your mic to the card?

Or it as we've already said PSU can indeed help reduce/eliminate coilwhine, this is not us guessing it is a proven fact.

Yeah this is what i noticed once i got the G1, the G1 is very well built! The Evga was very tiny and plastic, looked like a lower model altogether!

I suppose ill have to look into a new PSU sometime then.... Ive actually contacted corsair and they offered me an RMA but i dunno if they will refund me or just send the same version of PSU out?

Shame theres not a law on specs for computer components all together, if everything was built to a certain spec wed have no problems! I dont mind paying money for something that is plug and play worry free!

Ive got a headset incoming to keep my sane for now but like i said its not as bad as the Evga! So im pretty happy overall, and thanks for posting daily Gibbo, really nice touch, i needed the support lol.

Super general Platinum/Gold stuff is unbeatable for the money. But the Antec 1300W HCP unit is a stand out unit and better than anything we sell from Superflower presently, but it is also crazy expensive.

At under £200 and under £100 the Superflower quality is pretty unbeatable to be honest!

great cs gibbo but i love my evga sc and evga have just sent me my backplate for it now too so looks a bit better than out the box would advice anyone who has one to request it as its free.

Yeah i totally agree with that, the G1 was freezing cold when i opened the box so maybe it just needed warmed up its much much better than the Evga though, the Evga in my PC was very loud.

The G1 seems to have settled down a bit but i do think ill grab a Superflower for my next build.

And ill recommend my bro to grab a Superflower.

Anyways im just happy i can play on my PC now stressful times people!!!!
