I could quite easily have stayed off work yesterday as I had the headache from hell, along with a cold, but I went in and got on with it. Few painkillers and all was right.

I am sat here sweating away, coughing, sneezing and shaking, oh and everything aches. Yet I use my hands to work (as in type before I get a dirty remark lol) so in my mind, no reason why I can't work.

I go to work unless I am physically unable/unwell to leave the house.

This. I had to go home from work a week or two ago after battling with feeling ill for most of the day. I lost. Upon throwing up in the toilet I thought that then would be a good time to go home.

A cold is not a reason to take a day off. If you have a migraine (when I get one I throw up constantly, ^Wasn't a migraine, it was something else, and can't concentrate) or the flu (not had it myself yet) or something serious then you should take the day off, but most people have colds quite often, especially at this time of year, so why take a day off work because of it?

Except possibly for pure laziness.... :(
