Im seriously thinking about having this done as my gut is huge compared to the rest of me....must have 28 yrs worth of compacted faecal matter in there.

seems they insert a ring that opens the sphincter up 4cm so they can pass tubes through this. now Im keen to get a colonic but ...man....that just wouldn't feel right/comfortable.

also what if my case is really bad and i phwarp loads and a lot comes out.....i would be so embarrased tbh.

it costs £70 around here

No it won't.

Why oh why do people end up believing all this crap about colonic irrigation "cleansing" your colon.

I'm not so sure about this, while I don't plan on having one or anything like that, they reckon that the Japanese (and or other eastern countries) have a far lower bowl cancer rate than us. They reckon that the (possible) main reason for the difference is the angle of their bowels when they squat to go to the loo (stops any carcinogens in your poo getting stuck inside).

The reason for the lower cancer rate is their diet.

Who reckons this?

How come the longevity of people in Japan etc is attributed to their healthy diets of fish, meat, rice and vegetables, but bowel cancer is because of the angle they take a dump at?

I don't pretend to be an expert on this but the logic behind it speaks for itself. Your colon is filled with waste your body doesn't need, the presumption is that if this waste stays in your colon long enough it stagnates and becomes carcinogenic. I say presumption because I don't know enough about the research to say otherwise, but having had a read around it does explain why there are common areas in the colon that cancer occurs.

Generally speaking if you have a good diet you won't get much, if any, of this stagnation as everything will expel from your colon properly (i.e. you have enough fibre in your diet complimenting your natural lubricants), regardless of sitting position. The sad story is not many people are like this and we've all had junk food, curries, etc etc and suffered the repercussions the next day. Either some people's diets are so bad that they keep topping up in these stagnated areas, or some people are unlucky enough to not be able to shift it naturally.

You mean, washing away the mucus the colon produces to lubricate faeces and help it pass easily through the gut?

That mucus will come back quickly enough.

But it has been proved that it doesn't stay in the gastrointestinal tract that long. A scientifically supported theory is that the high amount of red meat in western diets causes many types of cancer due to the formation of carcinogens in the gut. Red meat consumption is linked with many types of cancer. Also many toilets at home in Japan are the standard western ones. It's only really the public ones that you have to squat in.

I'm not debating their validity as research but is there anything more recent? While I can't find any medical research papers that back up my view, I still find it logically feasible.

ITS THE POO THAT IS ALREADY IN YOUR BOWELS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE EXCRETED NORMALLY, GIVEN A FEW HOURS

WHY CAN NO ONE SEE THIS OBVIOUS EXPLANATION?

CAPITAL LETTERS HELP VALIDATE MY ARGUMENT.

The point, even if people don't know that their making it, is that everything that comes out of a colonic irrigation might not have been possible to expel naturally (at least easily).

Even if you discount this theory, on that Embrassing Illnesses programme there was a woman with a whole undigested onion bargy, and pieces of pepper that were actually fermenting in her colon. They'd probably of come out in their own time, but it can't be healthy having fermenting undigested food sitting in your colon for any period of time.

Stagnated areas? Can you point to an area of the colon that is stagnating please?
