Comfortable Sports Tourer

Oh they are very fast, but the power is very linear. Carbed version a bit more 'mechanical' sounding and a bit more step in power. Both versions eclipsed by ZX12, Busa or any recent superbike though

Blackbird is a very nice bike.
The scary part is when you think you're doing Xmph, but look down and see you're doing X+40!! :D

Not sure I'd quite class it as a Sports Tourer, though.
A lot of STers seem to be mostly Sports with a bit of Tourer slapped on... or at least something that began designed as pure Sports, but ended up being a bit too big.

Goldwing is 100% Tourer, though. Nothing Sporty about it!!

Actually after reading the OP again, I'm going to suggest a Triumph Tiger. They are just falling below £4k now, have a lot more leg room and are still very sporty whilst taking full luggage.....and have a peach of an engine :)

Oh, two up. That rules out pretty much anything 2000 on in the sportsbike department. Pillion seats for pixies and that's yer lot.

I can't recommend a Thunderace unfortunately. Despite having one for years there were a number of issues. Oil use (didn't burn it, the thing sprayed it out the exhaust when you thrashed it. I know this cause a mate following on his 996 Ducati moaned about front of his bike coated with a fine film of oil...), most likely knackered suspension and sporty side of touring rather mile eating capability.

That GS in your sig Sagalout, looks like it will do the trick. Can't even recommend my bike (ZZR1400) as the temptation to pin the throttle in 3rd or higher is addictive - not good for pillions!

Made me laugh out loud in my helmet though :)

They do a 'bagger' version of the rocket for touring. Guy I know bought one of each (normal and touring). Probably something to do with the size of his willy or something :)

They do draw crowds though, like Gold Wings and expensive Ducatis.

Yeah, I was temoted to recommend an r1150GS, as that would be in budget, but they aren't all that sporty.....although as always it depends how it's ridden

K1200s a good bike. One of the guys I went to Isle of Man with has one and it served us well when I was knocked off mine. Rider 6'5, me as pillion 6'4, 30 odd stone between us and it still pulled well :)
