Command and Conquer Generals 2 Thread

So the final death knell for C&C unless someone with a clue buys the IP the EA after this flops, makes me sad to see the end of the game that got me to finally move from my beloved Amiga over to the PC all those years ago.

What is a C&C game without a single player campaign? Look at the joke that was Tiberium Alliances. This will be more of the same with shinier gfx now. :(

Not so excited anymore. Seems like a good idea to have a go at adding an image.

Edit: Great sucess! I hope Dropbox is a "Trusted Hosting Site"

Another game i was going to buy ruined.

I don't even enjoy online multiplayer strategy games anyway. Singkle player campaign is where it is at for me.

I'm out.

and if EA think i'm going to pay a few quid everytime i want to upgrade a virtual tank then they have another thing coming.

pfft

more this goes on the more i am considering abandonning pc gaming after my currwnt system isnt up to it.

Games i like
C and c..obviously cast into oblivion
civ..not what it used to be with 5
Few fps, but can be played on xbox
Starcraft..only good one left

I really see no need to spec my pc out any more. There dont seem to be any games like c and c etc out except starcraft that wouldnt work on xbox

I really was hoping with this

Single player would be nice, but I did spend most of my time on Generals / Zero Hour playing online.

As long as it's not pay-to-win, no stupid unit caps, and no 'XP to unlock your next unit' it should make it out ok.
I have no idea what they'll charge money for though, reskins of units?

It's EA. I would expect a basic army and then you pay to unlock the superweapons or the "hero" units.

So basically if you don't want to pay you get to dink around with technicals and rocket buggies whilst your enemy who did flattens you with a nuke and rolls in with fully upgraded emperor tanks.

I don't know about you, but i'll pass. It's never going to be something as simple as skins.

I guess what might save this is say, a £30-35 one off charge that entitles you to everything at launch and all future units, missions, and content.

But I think there's more chance of me growing a third foot than that happening.

We can only hope all the big sites pick up on this and they realise how much of a stupid idea it is but that would be common sense and for the customer and we know thats not how EA rolls these days :p

because rougeblade it is no longer a Generals game but a generic free to play real time strategy game with the command and conquer brand daubed on the box art in a vain effort to appeal to its fanbase. Much in the same way they are using the Bioware name now.

EA appear to be monetizing all their games now as micro-transactions such as FIFA Ultimate Team has proven to be one of their strongest sources of revenue this fiscal year. I would expect most if not all their future titles to have some element of DLC/Free to Play/Micro-transaction either to form the basis of the game or be included in some way.

RTS is a fairly barren genre now in terms of decent quality releases with only COH:2 and Starcraft: HOTS on my radar.

C&C 4 was such a car crash they should have shelved the franchise and left it dead where as now we get to see EA engage in a little necrophillia

So where did the original studio members end up does anywhere know? Have to confess that's one of the reasons I was getting interested in this despite the car crash that was C&C4.
