Commodore Amiga owners thread!

My Commodore history is a hand me down C64, an A500 and then an A1200 with a hard drive.

Been getting back into playing some of the games I used to play on them as a child and it's fun rediscovering how brutal the learning curve is on a lot of games from that era, especially the earlier ones.

The Wizball port for the Amiga for example is pretty much impossible. Have had fun replying the Vietnam war era game 'Lost Patrol' (another game with a brutal 'learning' curve but very atmospheric for its time with some great music) and on the C64 'Raid over Moscow'.

Finally managed to find time to set my A1200 up, since getting it back from being recapped and the roms upgraded.

I added my new TF1260 too, though I haven’t tried it with anything that would stretch its legs.

Hooked up to my Retrotink 4k, I had a quick blast of a few games. As mentioned by Caracus above, the general difficulty levels are high.

I'd love to say I remember what it was called. It's still in my 1200. I remember it could display the gun in alien breed 2.

How much do they cost to get restored?
The AGA graphics were built into the Motherboard of the 1200. You could fit an expansion card in the slot underneath which could contain RAM, CPU and FPU.

Spending spree :p

I’ve got two A600’s in the loft, been meaning to get rid of one. Seeing this collection of OG boxed games is making me have an itch again!

I still have my A1200 in the loft. As a kid I fitted it with a 250MB HDD. I remember the mobo pins to connect it were all misaligned and bent (came from commodore this way!). I had to break the ide ribbon cable connector apart and connect in small groups to get it working. I’m scared to attempt a boot in case it blows up after all these years!

I’ve just come across this thread randomly, as use these forums to talk all things Nvidia as just upgraded to the 50 series.

I use amibay but wanted to say hi here too, my first Amiga was an A600 in the early 90s parents bought it me from Dixons it’s long gone now though.
I’ve still got my original 1200 from the 90s with blizzard 1230 in it but have got some other Amigas too, including an Amiga 4000D that I built using parts from various sources.

Rather than post loads of photos here I’ll just share the link to my amibay build thread

My A4000D Build

I just wanted to say I love Amigas and have bought both Roguecraft and Rogue Declan boxed games when they came out. No amount of ray tracing or framegen can replace that Amiga feeling!

Great writeup. I would love an Amiga 4000 'just because', but with my A1200, I've no real need. There's one on Amibay just shy of 2K.

I've a PC inside the Checkmate case. That'll have to do.. :p

Okay, my next round of freebies. 2 things, the first I will list here, and the second I will list after this post
My niece dropped my tank mouse while playing bill's tomato game, which pulled the top away from the bottom

Amiga test kit shows the mouse working fully, even the buttons can still be heard to click
I'm a bit peed off because it still had/has its original security/warranty sticker

I thought that maybe there is someone who is brave enough to pull it further apart, breaking the last of the clips then glue the top to the bottom, or if there is somebody who likes to refurbish them, then sell them on, I'd thought that the most important thing here is that the tracker/ball is working fully with that
either way, this is going for free, inc postage
first come, first served

Next up is a flight joystick, rdy to take your desert strike game to the next level

there is nothing wrong with this, all buttons can be heard to click and ATK shows everything working as it should, there is a slider on the base with which you can tell it to make the top, or bottom buttons work only, plus another slider that will tell it to only use the bottom left, or the bottom right buttons to work, next to the top rear button there is an autofire slider, which fully works too, has suction cups

this is also going for free because I just want it out of the way right the now

first come first serve, I guess that just a little postage money on this would be nice, because of the size box that it will have to go into (£5 PPG)?( I hope that is okay, mods?)

@Threepwood Not sure if anyone has already DM'd you, but if not and they are both still available I'll take these off of your hands :)
Hey. nobody has dM'd me, so you're the first, I'd love to send both of these in one package, I'll DM you for your address, and sort out the postage cost,I was prepared to send the mouse for free, so I hope you won't mind the suggested fiver

Guys - this shouldn't be happening outside of the Members Market. You know the rules...
Hey Maccy, I asked if I could do this first, and was given the go ahead, I'm not allowed to use the MM, if you remember?
I'll look for me asking, and link you the thread
You know the rules...
here you go, I was told that givaways in this retro section was okay, I made sure to ask after seeing the guy who was giving away a tonne of pc gear around the retro section, that post was up for over a week, and nothing happened, so I began to question the outside of the MM rule
