Commodore Amiga owners thread!

A600 has a built in modulator... just use the aerial cable from your TV to its RF input?
Many thanks, tried it this way and it does it indeed still work.

The picture was in black and white, is that due to the nature of how it was connected?. If I changed to a rbg to scart system on a older tv would i get colour?

this is what I had to do with the cable that I linked earlier in the thread and a cheap Alba flatscreen from ebay, I went through a few ebay flatscreens with scart input, until I got one that I was satisfied with the condition of the screen, but hey, I got refunds, still a bit sad that the Sony one was not up to scratch, but the Alba is perfectly good for my needs.
the upshot of getting a cheap flatscreen is that they are generally pretty small, so they don't take up much space
remember you can filter out everything thast does not have scart on ebay, if you look,

Just saw it now. Really cool, thanks.
no problem buddy, I can't help thinking that that demo was possible all those years ago, and what would happen if only we could get a copy back to the good old days, to blow some minds
I know that they spent a long time making sure the demo would work on every amiga system, they did a damn good job!

to anyond based in yorkshire, or anywhere near nottinghamshire, please feel free to join the RHAG discord group ( Robin Hood amiga Group), we do meetups, though I am nowhere near there any more, so you don't have to be based around there, anyone can join the group
the invite link to join is https://discord.com/invite/7vJPHPYk7d
That's great, I'd be really up for that. I live very close to Yorkshire.

Folks... aside from ebay, where can I pick up Amiga hardware/software from?
Are there any decent online market places?

I purchased an Amiga500 from ebay (Screen Gems edition), it was exactly the same one I had 30 years ago and was in such good nick, I may have overpaid for it , but I have to say tehe smile on my face when I hooked it up to the (LCD TV but we need to sort that out), it was such a fantastic experience hearing the disk drive working and playing a little Beast 2 and Nightbreed.
And now I feel bitten by the Amiga bug again :)

How much did you pay out of interest? The A500 is the main retro hardware I am interested in as it is what I had when younger, but not sure how my my nostalgia will stretch!

I paid £350 but its really in pristine condition, no yellowing and the box is in excellent condition. Albeit the Screen Gems sleeve is not in good condition but thats a minor point for me.

Oof thanks, too rich for me, for now at least. Although no doubt prices will only be going in one direction - why did my parents clear out my old one from the loft!? :(:confused:

Because they checked ebay and saw what these things are worth? :D

My immaculate A1200 is about to go away for a recap, I started noticing that when it plays the musical intro in Mig29, it's missing some notes here and there. I'm dreading sending it away, I've bought two custom double walled cardboard boxes and a load of bubble wrap etc. to mitigate any delivery woes.

I've just ordered a TF1260 to replace my current ACA 030@40 accelerator card. Something I could never have done in the 90s...

IanAG - you can pick them up for cheaper Im sure, the one I went for was in very good condition.

naefeart - you could really pick up the missing notes? Does that really mean a recap is necessary?
Where are you getting it recapped?

Yes, it's subtle by consistent enough that it suggests it could be capacitor related. Games play fine, but I think it's worth doing anyway. It's one of the Amiga Technologies A1200s, so I'm quite chuffed it's made it this far.

RetroPassion - From what I've read, it looks like they are the goto guys. They were previously called AmigaPassion.

Has everyone heard of the new doom clone game called' GRIND'?
It's doom but with pvp(over two amigas with serial cable basically, watch sme gameplay here
and the demo can be found here
the game is unreleased as of yet, but it is looking really good,

RetroPassion are excellent, I just sent them the motherboard to avoid any damage to the case. Ask them to remove the two capacitors for the timing fix, especially if you have the TF1260.
