Community Fibre

Cheers, will probably stick with the supplied one as long as it allows me to change DNS.

Yeah, that's one good thing I've been waiting for, symmetric speeds. Either packages would be a huge upgrade from the 20mb I'm currently getting (and VM is just too expensive for something faster). But the bigger plus side is the drop in latency thanks to full fibre.

Just checked my BT contract doesn't run out until November so I guess I'll wait for the Black Friday deals.
Note that the Black Friday Sales have been... VERY hit and miss last year (2022), but they did eventually drop a decent half price (all 24 months) package on the actual day I believe - but that might have been because of the Summer Sale going on longer than normal (we believe it was because it overran into the passing of the Queen so they kept it running). Prior to that drop on the actual day, it was something like half price for 12 months (out of 24) and the issue there is their out of contract package prices continue from your last months prices; meaning if you have half price, you continue at half price + £3 a year or something like that. So if you can, try to snag the half price for the entire contract period instead. (Even if it might seem like it works out more as the long term cost is potentially lower).

Moving this here https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/official-mikrotik-hardware.18959891/page-11#post-36358012 as it maybe a router issue?

i am gunna try the community fibre router later to see if still get slow internet.

whats funny is that if i enable my express vpn client to connect to a uk server, i get speeds of 600-700mb/s lol
Hmmm, might be a long shot, but some poorly configured VPN might be trying to connect their VPN service to your public IP address that was previously held by another user (our public IP's with CF are very sticky but not permanent ones), so could that be the issue? If your Linksys is doing the same, then it'll be something CF might need to do something about.

Yea i am guna try the ISP router as soon as the missus is finish at work(shes wfh so i cant mess about with the network )

Good reason to talk about the 3gb connection if that hasn't happened already... :p :D
She hasnt complained yet which is odd!

In her line of work she does deal with large files sometimes!

Then again, she does use a vpn on her computer so if thats the case, she will be getting good speeds lol as what i said earlier is that when i enabled vpn on my client pc, i started to get teh speeds i paid for!!!

Yeah a quick test I'd do is just power off your current router, and do a quick and dirty power cycle with original Linksys one to confirm it works as intended, and if you're fine, it's not something CF can do about as it'll be that existing router instead.
Update, i just connected up the linksys router and still having slow internet speeds...

WhatsMyIp sites says im still in Amsterdam......

What the hell.......

Whoa... That's not good. The implications of that are not great... Either there's something on your very setup you're testing on (something someone installed intentionally/unintentionally) or there's something wrong elsewhere along the line to CF. Get in touch with them asap, as you have no idea how long that might have been going on for.

:: edit ::
Do a check of your system or use a known clean system to recheck quickly the public IP.

ook this is strange.

this website says my ip is in amsterdam https://www.whatismyip.com/ but this one shows the correct location https://whatismyipaddress.com/

Speed test here shows very low speeds and the one i used throughout the day https://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/test-result.html?id=419276808

However, in here https://www.speedtest.net/result/14670880992 the speeds are fine??!?!?!?!

I went into the linksys speed checker and looks all fine and reports 950mb/s upload and download?!?!?!

What the hell?

As said earlier today i notice something fishy when trying to watch Sky go as it says i cannot watch it in my country?

I was playing a video game earlier on that auto match u to your local region and the game matched me to a bloody US server...

Community Fibre is now live on my road, E4 London. However it doesn't look like they've cabled up my block of flats.

I wonder if they ever will.

So now theres Openreach Full fibre and FTTC. Virgin Media and now Community Fibre. A good variety going forward.
Yea half of E4 have full fibre now.

Good times!

Now wait until end of August for ulez to creep inside e4 lol

Still nothing for the E10 area, got a family member who lives around there and only stuck with OR FTTC.

On the other hand in my area (RM13) it's been a month since the letter came in and still nothing, cabling looks finished around my immediate area (no more loose wires on the telephone poles and black boxes properly mounted) but they're still working on a few other roads further out. Had a couple of hiccups with my current FTTC connection last week so I decided just to go with CF as soon as they're live and then cancel the BT contract. I should easily recover that loss with the lower monthly prices.

Just noticed they're actually live in the RM12 area! My parents have also noticed the same stability issues I have (we're on the same OR exchange) and been wanting to move off. They don't need fast speeds so even the basic 150mb will do. However, they do depend on the landline phone, has anyone here ported their BT number over to CF and is it easy to do? And seeing as it's VoIP, is it reliable?

Ported a Sky number (analog service, not their voip), so should be the same. It went fine, but a little confusing because of the Community Fibre site. Community Fibre mention being able to do it, but there's no where to do it when you order. Even the live chat agent had the helpful advice of "it should be there somewhere". After you place the order for internet & phone, you get an email that gives you the voip number, but also the link/form to put the details in if you are wanting to port one.

This was about a year ago, so don't know if it's changed or gives you the option when ordering now.

Other than that, it's been fine. You get seperate box for the phone to plug into, then that plugs into the router. Service has been be fine, no issues. Only other thing is, Community Fibre don't have any seperate billing for the phone, so you can't call any sort of premium number or international. If it's not included in the "unlimited calls" you just can't call it.

Once Community Fibre take the number, the other services (bb and phone) on the analog line just cancelled automatically (or at least it did with Sky)

Tentatively signed up. Installation this Friday.
1gb £29 24 months £100 amazon vouchers.
A handful of trust pilot customer care related complaints. Other than that look like it will be OK fingers crossed.

Been with Zen -rock solid connections for years.

The number of one-star reviews is tiny, I wouldn't pay any attention to it. It's when companies have loads of 5-star and loads of 1-star reviews that you have to assume they're gaming their reviews in some way.

To add perspective, BT have an overwhelming number of 1-star reviews but I had FTTC from them for 11 years without a single problem.

Anyone switched package mid contract? 1GB is only £29 now, which is the same as what my 500MB costs (after it got bumped for cpi), still have 1 year to run and not going to change isp, so no issue taking another 2 year. Anyone done it, or will CF make you stick to the deal you signed up with till the contract is out (fair enough really).

Will give them a ring next week, but thought I'd ask anyway, see if any one had any success.
