Hi, i have noticed that the speeds of my internet has slowed down a lot.

I am supposed to be getting aroun 900mb/s upload and download, however i only get at average, 10mb/s

After doing some digging arouund, i notice that my public IP that my ISP provides seems to be located in amsterdam( I am based in the UK)

I then double checked if there was some sort of VPN that was activated on my pc but there is not.

Whats strange is that if i do enable vpn(i have express VPN client on my pc) and point it towards a uk vpn, i get near enough 600-800mb/s speeds.....

Here is my configuration file that i have exported from my router
https://pastebin.com/AZxZeyVM

I double checked the settings under PPP in winbox and i dont see any vpn setup there..

I am currently with Community fibre and my RB5009 is connected to the fibre modem via the 2.5gb ethernet 1 port that acts as the WAN port.

The next thing i can try is to use the ISP's router(its a linksys one) and see if i am still getting a huge loss on the internet speed.

It seems as though something is connecting it to a vpn?!?! but what and why so slow?

Glad to hear things are stable for you.
I've lost power (7.9RC3-7.9Stable) on both cAP-ax and hAP-ax to the tune of 2 bars at a basic explanation level, I need to do more testing though. That means for me 5745-5805 isn't Useable (with big ears) for now. Slightly frustrating I guess. I just hope they have the Radar situation better under control now because I'm back on upper DFS channels for more power. On a positive note the power balance will be better for roaming IF the Radar detection is better controlled!

It seems as though something is connecting it to a vpn?!?! but what and why so slow?
It was a isp issue. They assigned me a wrong ip address

RouterOS version 7.10beta has been released on the "v7 testing" channel!

Before an upgrade:
1) Remember to make backup/export files before an upgrade and save them on another storage device;
2) Make sure the device will not lose power during upgrade process;
3) Device has enough free storage space for all RouterOS packages to be downloaded.

I think 7.9.2 stable is out not much to glean though.
I'm fully moved over to AX now with no buyer remorse, got used to all the funky stuff Mikrotik has to offer.

I've been using this to connect to my outside office for about a year, basically flawless until now. One unit in via PoE to my main router, then the other on the office roof which feeds into a mesh node in the office.

Having some electrical work on the house and had all the power off yesterday for about 4 hours. Once power is on and main router up and running, the other two mesh nodes in the house are online but the office one won't connect.

I think the two mikrotik transmitters have become unpaired somehow, but I can't work out how to fix it. When I installed it, it needed zero configuration, just complete plug and play. Not sure why a few hours offline would change that?

But the strange thing is, the receiver unit has a green light showing 'ethernet' when I inspect it. But if I plug the ethernet coming directly from that unit into my laptop (so avoiding the mesh node as a possible point of failure), there's 'unknown network' but zero internet connectivity.

I basically need to bump start the two mikrotik wireless units, but I have no way of doing that as I can't install any software on my work laptop to do the config, and it's really not practical to set my home PC up next to the master unit to config from that.

Any clues?

Check DHCP is working. Set a static IP on the laptop plugged into that Ethernet and see if you can ping the router.

Whatever you do, don‘t be tempted to log in and attempt to configure them. I would turn them both off and on again, and worst case scenario, do a hardware reset on them.

If you plug them in then yes, you will get “unknown network” because the device isn’t on the same IP subnet as you. Turn it back on with the DHCP server running and it should work.

Thanks, can't do static IP on work laptop without admin.

Trying it on my PC which I can plug into the ethernet in the office obvs. To set a static IP address, I've got to the right place, but it won't let me save the settings.

I'm trying:
IP address - 169.254.175.50 -> which is what I get under 'Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address' when I do ipconfig /all
Subnet prefix length - 24
Gateway - 255.255.255.0
Preferred DNS - 192.168.3.1 -> this is my main router IP address
Alternative DN - 192.168.3.6 -> randomly guessed IP address

It says "can't save IP settings. Check one of more settings and try again".

Seriously, just turn it off and back on again. It will almost certainly resync and work again. It's likely that it came up before some of your other devices and hasn't picked up the general subnet you're on.

Sorry thought it went without saying that I've tried power cycling everything about 6 times already before getting into more detailed solutions.

It's also had an overnight to try and settle back in as I know my mesh system sometimes takes a few hours to sort of rebalance itself.

OK. Can you please state how your network is configured and exactly which Mikrotik units you have.

If your router is 192.168.3.1 and you're getting a 169.254.175.x IP address then you've got a DHCP problem as that's a fallback private subnet when Windows can't get an IP address from a DHCP server.
