I've spent the last three months trying to be a more active part of the community, so that on Monday I'll finally qualify for free shipping. It feels like a nice reward, I mean don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for shipping, but it's definitely feels nice when I know that over the next few months I can order bits in parts and small amounts as and when they're on offer without having to worry about the cost of shipping all the parts separately. So yeah, I like this method, I feel rewarded for helping people and coming on here as and when I have time xD

Just thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the matter. I think loyalty should be rewarded not post count. I've bought products from overclockers for nearly 10 years but don't tend to post on the forums a lot so I don't get free delivery whereas someone who possibly has never bought before gets better treatment than me. To those people saying "oh the delivery cost is nothing if you spend XYZ" its the principle of the matter not the cost. Those few pounds on delivery saved have emmotional value and can make the custmer feel a sense of loyalty.

Tbh whoever thought of linking delivery to forums was a stroke of genius.

It's because of this they've built up such a superb community here. You can get help with, literally, anything here these days :)

This forum is a form of support offered to OcUK customers. Loads of people come here for help on what to buy, how best to upgrade, how to troubleshoot etc.

The people who really help those members who need it all have over 100 posts.

It is a cheap form of customer support aswell as breading loyalty. If you are already a loyal customer then there must be a reason your sticking around.

bang on imho, just cuz i'm not a long standing member does not mean i am not a loyal customer and sometimes the postage can definately make a difference. I remember one time i drove from wolverhampton to the old store to pick up my trust 8800gtx because it served me no benefit in paying postage than it would have cost me petrol.

However dispite what you purchase you quite rightly point out that you are given more reward of posting in the forum than you are for purchasing from the shop.

Interesting me thinks lol

I get the idea of free next day delivery for loyal forum members, that should always stand!!!

But maybe ocuk could implement a free delivery option for all ......... say within 5 working days ;)

personally, long standing loyal member or not, even if i was an old timer with thousands of post, next day delivery, next week delivery i couldnt care less. free delivery is free delivery i'd be happy with whatever it was not to mention next day lolol. Begger's cant be choosers lol

why bother with making someone sign up for free postage???
i think the way OCUK works it makes more sense, if you are going to offer free P&P to anyone that signs up but does not post, for the sake of the forum being ruined by a mass amount of user accounts that will never post, it would be better to just give everyone free P&P and cut out the need to sign up, then the forum is left for people that want to use it.
if you are shopping around and the only thing thats stopping you from buying from OCUK is the P&P then maybe OCUK can do without your custom. if you are going to be sooo picky about this, then chances are you will want to RMA everything when you dont get on with it or whatever.
for me, OCUK has the right idea, any site that issues free P&P just for someone signing up to, but not using, their forum, is just going to end up with a database of users that could come back to haunt them, just be done with it and give free P&P to everyone, forum member or not, and leave real companies like OCUK than give their loyal customers a privilage, for not only using their forum, but the majority of the time, helping out fellow forum users with issues.

you could get help with literally anything before the free postage scheme...

there i some good valid points on both sides to be honest, it seems a shame like the chap up there ^^^^ muso, he being a loyal customer for 10 years but gets jack because he isnt hugely active in posting.

i accept what the general feeling is here as to keep things as they are but in instances such as muso' maybe something could be done there?

lol, well in 3 months if the free postage offer is still on and i have my post count up maybe i'll saying the same as you lot!!! lol

Keep it as it is, i post here to help people, free delivery is a nice way of rewarding people who do help, as well as the fact that the customer service and next day delivery is spot on.

Maybe some things could be cheaper elsewhere, id still pay that little bit extra for the piece of mind and the delivery service OCuk offer.

There are a lot of companies copying OCUK in what they offer to customers, but you cant copy a good community with intelligent people, it's worth reading these forums and posting, you get a lot out of it.

not being horrible or rude, but i dont know of any other store that offers free delivery because you have spent X amount with them. maybe a loyalty points scheme or something on purchases would be a better idea for that side of it, so 1 point for every £1, 50 points = free delivery or £5 off. something similar to that.

Don't forget though, there is always the option of contacting shop staff via their Trust email accounts, and speaking to them directly about it. While it's not something they'd advertise, I'm sure there will be situations where they will knock a few quid off the overall price if you're buying a number of parts, or are a long standing customer. The money they knock off your bill could easily be the same as the delivery charge. They may well turn around and say no, but that's about the worst that would happen. It never hurts to ask, as I'm sure they appreciate that as a consumer, you're just looking to get the best deal you can.

i'm afraid this statement is wrong. i am picky about postage costs for sure, it all adds up. if this makes no difference to you how about we ask OCUK to transfer your free shipping over to me? With regards to RMA'ing everything, are you being serious, because cost of prices and delivery has got nothing at all to do with trying to RMA everything.

I for one definately do not believe in RMA'ing anything unless its faulty, i tend to do my homework first on items before buying so I already have a good idea what to expect. I suggest you hold back on being stereotypical of people just because they are enquiring about postage costs.

good point you make there about points that could possibly work.

however there are a number of sites that do offer free delivery if you spend over a certain amount of money. is this a future possibility on bigger purchases?

you were not enquiring at all, you were pretty much stomping your feet saying 'either you give me free shipping OCUK or im going somewhere else'. sorry if it offended you, but i cannot see the purpose of OCUK getting people to make accounts they will never use for the sake of saving a few quid postage. it would just ruin the forums for everyone that actually wants to use it.
