i don't currently get all my items posted free of charge due to the fact that i live in northern ireland, however some items i do get free of charge. but the most i've had to pay for poastage is 11.95.....

however if i go to a competitors website, order the same item that i'm being charged 11.95 postage for on OcUK and type in my postcode.....bang, automatically a £15 surcharge, on top of the normal postage rate.......

long story short, imo OcUK offer an excellent service and as such 99% of my business goes thru them, i also always point friends in their direction simply due the service i receive here...

so the free postage model they have at the minute, as far as i am concerned, is perfectly fair and helps generate a very very strong forum community with excellent community support and advice.

i am also a member of a competitors forum where regualr posting also gets you free postage, and have browsed it a few times so let me give you an example, as i am writing this there are in or around 500 people active just in the whole hardware section, the competitors forums will be lucky to have a 10th of those numbers.....

simply put OcUK are obviously doing something very right....

just me 2 cents worth and thank you very much OcUK for at least making postage to Northern ireland reasonable

i never post unless i need advice or can offer advice on any forum, which on this one, at the moment, i am totally in need of advice from regulars here.

i spend a fair bit buying goods that enable the company to host this forum as i am sure you all do.

but to have ppl that because they post a lot get free delivery and ppl that spend a lot paying for delivery seems strange....

Just thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the matter. I think loyalty should be rewarded not post count. I've bought products from overclockers for nearly 10 years but don't tend to post on the forums a lot so I don't get free delivery whereas someone who possibly has never bought before gets better treatment than me. To those people saying "oh the delivery cost is nothing if you spend XYZ" its the principle of the matter not the cost. Those few pounds on delivery saved have emmotional value and can make the custmer feel a sense of loyalty.

at last someone talking sense  i have spent a lot of money over the years with overclockers but i havent got the knowledge to help people out with problems so i just tend to lurk in the backgound :( , i could have course submit 250 posts of absolute dribble and qualify for the free postage - but it isnt the forum which keeps overckockers making a prophit its the people who actualy spend money - i think the rewards should go to the people who keep overclockers in a buisiness rather than keeping the forum afloat - just my thoughts - mike

i personally don't find it strange, as i believe that the incentive was introduced in order to help make the forums a stronger more popular place, and reward those who contribute, which it seems to have done.

but i can understand how some1 who spends 1000's could be miffed at not getting free postage, but i think if you read some of Nath's posts, he seemed to indicate that 'high rollers' with a low forum post count could contact OcUK and they would possibly do something for them

I think it should be the way it is, as people said it is open to exploitation, and I'm happy as to pay for the delivery, because it's brilliant! Minimises anxious anticipation of new stuff :)

I think Nath's point is quite fair. If you're putting in a large order ask if you can have free postage. Otherwise do what I did wait until you qualify, you also get to learn a lot at the same time :)

Free delivery is fine in my book if you don't really have an urgent need for something. or it's something small like a fan that costs nowhere near the postage costs. Hate buying something for like £2 and postage is £6.95 + vat!

I've found in the past that the item or items sit in a warehouse for 4 days before they get shipped or you spend days checking emails to see if anything has been sent yet.

This is not the case with OCUK, all items I have ordered with free delivery from OC have been sent the same day.

Personally I only post when I have input and look forward to accessing the MM.

Postage to Eire is very reasonable.

To be honest, i only order parts from here.

I am loyal because of the community here.

My new build of €1200 will be ordered from here. I might ask for free shipping :P

i have to say, when i was building my pc i chose bits from all over the place, and then if you save a few pounds on each bit it can soon mount up, i guess a lot of people come on here when they first start, and after the time they have built their pc [spent their money] the free delivery kicks in.

i probably would have bought a few bits from here had the free delivery been on at the start, its done now, but it does make a difference

in think on the whole the general opinion seems to be, keep the loyalty incentive for forum members as is, and for anyone that is ordering in either large volume or regular smaller volumes to contact OCUK direct and speak to one of their friendly staff about either free shipping or some kind of discount.
i cannot believe that OCUK would ever refuse a customer some kind of incentive to purchase from them without good reason, but i also dont think that asking in an open thread and not directly to a member of staff is the right way to go about things.

tbh if op is so bothered over a small amount of money for postage then i really don't think you should be buying off the internetz at all, it is petty..........

wait till you see how long the competitors free delivery lasts once they start getting hundreds more signups than usual then never posting!

time to start buying £1 cables, signing up n getting free delivery form competitors? :D

lets do ocuk a service :P

to be honest, I think OCuk should leave it how it is as having all you need to do is sign up people are going to abuse it.

were as here its like rewards for contrubing to the community

I'm reading this forum almost every day but I'm not posting anything until I need to get some advice, so I'm not spamming the forum, and I guess I'm not going to be counted as a royal forum member ever. However, at least that would be nice if you spent more than 200£ you could get free delivery.
