Competitors - a clarification

Yes but not a game we sell as that is direct competition.

There is no cover up, no deleted threads (moved, but now moved back) and no bans. I've told Valkie he's a prat and Ace modder doesn't make forum policy (neither do I for that, but Spie is off and I'll take the lead in his absence).

Wanting people sacked for getting some forum rage? Some perspective required I think, what kind of employer would that make OcUK?

A very frank post.

I think many would expect Valkie to lose his Donship as punishment enough untill he can be trusted again.

Actions speak louder than words.

It is a bit of a silly rule, but it would also be silly when, for example BF3 comes out and you have threads discussing the best and cheapest place to buy it, when at the same time there is a banner advertising it on OCUK. so it is understandable that they must do something

tbh, ocuk trying to sell games is a fail in the first place.

That's up to you, but I doubt a couple of days sus'd would be the end of your world if you did fall foul of the dons. Most likely just get edited out anyway unless it was a blatant 'don't buy it here lol get it here instead'.

TBH, if I was suspended for something so petty I would simply bob off.

So this is entirely different from the sticky we have at the top of the forum?

And more to the point, the whole thing that Neil was banned for was completely allowed?

Plenty of the threads that Valk deleted were completely gone at the time. Neil was banned and was held hostage to the forum "do as we say, then I'll unban him", but you say there were no bans? How is it not being covered up. :confused

I don't think anyone's suggested that he should be fired from his job. I (and quite a few others as you can see) just feel less than happy with him having full don powers coming in throwing his weight around banning people, locking threads, acting like he's the boss of the operation and then threatening people outside of the forums.

What's wrong with the mods that people trust and respect doing this sort of community PR? Why would you want someone that has this effect on the community representing OcUK in such a disgraceful manner?

A slap on the wrist and tell him he's a prat? Why does he need don powers to do his job?

In fairness the threads are all back (all closed and back a few pages) which i think is good as it gives everyone the chance to make their own opinion.

Telescopi has admitted to wrong doing by mods, and no, no one should lose their job over this, although im sure though they may think twice in future before posting some of what was said,

I cant see this working, I cant see how it can be moderated and tbh i think it will eventually become apparent to OCUK as a business that games just isnt their area and this whole problem will disappear

Sales will do the talking

I don't want him sacked but i want his moderator rights REMOVED, he was way way above line. An utter disgrace as far as i'm concerned

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely" - seems to fit the situation well. He just couldn't accept that he was wrong, even when most of us were telling him he was! Apparently we were all "being childish". Ego much?

Can we not just give this whole thing a rest?

I was involved and tried to help Neil get unbanned but this is just getting silly now. Just let it rest and move on, Neil was unbanned, rules have been clarified, we all enjoy the forums, end of story. The guy was a prat but we all are at times, get over it it's been sorted and i'm sure hes had his wrist smacked.

Though I doubt it will end anytime soon

I'm not sure what definition of trolling is being used here but it seems as though it's being used the wrong way round.

There are some things that will now end.

"Badly.."

"awwwwwwww yeeeaaaaaaaaaaa"

So the games that OcUK sell we can discuss.

The competitors that sell them we can discuss.

We just can't discuss them at the same time?

The rules have just been unclarified by this thread though.

Contrary to the sticky, apparently we're allowed to mention Amazons DD service as long as we don't mention games OcUK sell. I.e. the whole thing that Neil was banned for is fine.

Can we have the sticky updated to reflect this as well?

Let me get this right, We can mention Amazon and Play but not in relation to a game that Overclockers sell? Right that's cool.

We can't mention Steam in relation to games that they also sell? That's a bit more of a "huh" but I still understand, although I feel Steam should be treated differently imho.

On the plus side, it did give me the opportunity to use the word "kerfuffle" in a post , and I notice that someone else used it later in the thread too, as such I think kerfuffle should be the word of the day :D
