Con Lake Con firmed [Warning: AdoredTV]

After watching the video I am not surprised one bit PCPER was mentioned at all. I can remember a few years, when The TechReport started doing frametime testing using stuff like FRAPS. However, one day PCPER "devised" a hardware based system with a "collaborator" and IIRC,some of the AMD cards were shown off in a bad light. So,you would think they have gone to all this effort to make this new fangled measuring system,so good on them and fair enough AMD needed to fix their stuff. All sounded great until all of a sudden FCAT came out,and PCPER said they had been working with Nvidia. Then it transpired from one of the Anandtech reviewers and IIRC,Kyle Bennett over on HardOCP Nvidia had been fishing for collaborators at hardware websites to "work" with them on this.

Ever since that day,I have always been a bit careful about taking anything PCPER has to say at face value unless its confirmed by more than one source.

Yeah I think I'll be giving PC Perp a wide birth.

I cant see anything changing.

Oh, my bad. I forgot we're supposed to go with the narrative on this forum.

AMD are the best and Jim is never wrong is how it goes isn't it?
According to you Gavin, ....AMD are the worst and Jim is never right, is how it goes isn't it?

Well after looking into this a bit more I think I can safely assume PCPerp are well and truly in the pockets of Nvidia and very likely Intel too.

Whilst some think Jim has a bee in his bonnet about NVidia and intel, he has the balls to be as independent as he can, which in todays environment, is something to be applauded. Neutrality and championing the underdog, is a rare thing these days. I prefer to watch his videos and then compare them to others who review the same stuff to get more than one source of info, to make my own judgement.

How are you maintaining neutrality if you are just championing the underdog

Ok perhaps I didn't write that up too well. What I mean is that he doesn't just spout the "party line" and say everything is great, buy this product now. He looks up various sources and analysis them, and gives his views, good or bad. At the same time, he stands up for us users and tries to fight our corner if he sees tech companies taking the P with us.

But he doesn't champion the underdog he calls as he sees it. He praised Ryzen and soured on Vega which and his conclusions where similar to many people on forums like this, he had a go at Gameworks saying it was bad for gamers and has called people in the so called press for not correcting mistakes. If anything he is championing the consumer telling them what's good, what's bad and what to avoid.

For me the trouble with many of the tech sites and channels on Youtube they all seem to be in bed with the same companies (friends of the channel), any project build such as LTT video on a dual socket 56 core Xeon he bought of ebay is a typical example - Intel CPU, Asus motherboard, Nvidia graphics. Take a look at some of the builds on these channels from the last few years and they nearly always have products from the same companies despite them having loads of kit laying around from review samples.

Seen the amount of kit LTT has? Its obscene.. how much of that is donated, how much is bought?
To be fair most of stuff he gets sent never makes it to video, companies just send him a product to review in hope that he features it on his channel. I know most of it he can't sell some gets used up in staff PC's some of it goes in competitions.
