Conan Exiles

Played age of conan for 2 years...I'd say from past experience that a funcom game without bugs is a long shot...but hopefully I'm wrong. I have had my eye on this for a while.

It will be exactly like Ark and all the other survival games.

They make a few videos where it looks really good, release as an Alpha which for some reason people actually bother buying then when they've made a decent killing from it they move most of the team on to other things and drip feed those people who are still bothering with it after 2 weeks of playing and not getting fed up with the bugs.

Somewhat cynical there. I'm hoping it'll be a decent game. I'll certainly pick it up when the alpha comes out as some people in my gaming community are going to have a private server and I'd like to see how it plays with a group of friends to play with.

They used to pay people to test computer games in Alpha and Beta.

Then they started offering Beta testing to fans.

Then they started charging for Beta access and then Alpha access.

As long as people keep paying for the privilege to play a broken game in Alpha or Beta there is no motivation for developers to finish building it.

You call it cynical, I call it realistic. How many games, especially survival games, have made it from Alpha to Beta, and then to final release and actually been worth buying?

Completely agree AHarvey.

Ark was the biggest joke with releasing paid for dlc  And then their reason for it was because they needed more money to keep the game alive, yeah it's not like the game was more or less in the top 10 for sale on steam since release before the dlc came along, oh wait....

But as per usual, we only have us, the consumers to blame for this :(

Eh. I don't mind paying for pre-release games. You get them sooner than you would if you had to wait for them to release properly and you can give your feedback to the developers while the game is still being worked on. Hopefully the developers will listen to feedback and change course as they continue to work on the game.

Of course there are always going to be bad developers who don't listen to feedback but you just hope that the strength of the community will force them to listen. Either way I'll be buying this game when the alpha is released as I said earlier because a few friends will be playing on a private server and I think it'll be a really fun game to play with friends.

I loved Age of Conan (after it'd had a few updates and moved that idiot game director on) and only really stopped playing it as the numbers dwindled :(

Loved The Secret World too which was Joel Bylos' previous effort.

If it crushes the bugs, has PvE or consensual PvP (biggest bugbear with survival games is people wrecking your stuff when you're not there) and has the music from AoC, then I'll be there near the front of the queue. Seeing that massive statue of Mitra gave me some good memories of my Priest of Mitra from AoC.

Even if development of DayZ Rust and Ark suddenly stops and the games are scrapped, I would still of get my money's worth out of all 3 games, with 500hrs 900hrs and 60hrs respectively, these games have definitely been worth buying for me.

But I do get your point regarding the survival game genre and 'early access' I believe we will see a full AAA title from a major developer and publisher very soon, the games sell too well for a publisher not to release one

I wish we would see one based on the source engine in a half life world. Graphics look great still and it runs superbly.

God, I hope to hell that you can turn off those hands when walking, I dont know about anyone else but I absolutely do not raise my hands up to my face when I walk, looks ridiculous, would annoy me after about 5 mins.

I'm defo interested in this game, just hope it lives up to my expectations and yes those hands coming up like that is majorly annoying lol it would be ok if it did it when running but shouldn't do that when your walking, it will annoy the hell out of me if they keep that lol
