***Conroe Post here***

I have got to stress the testing I did was a quick play at work for 1 hour. Just a case of Crank up the FSB and see what happens. I had it booting in windows at 500 Mhz but it was not stable which I think is down to the memory. I just need to knock the CAS back. I'm sure this chip will do much better with a bit of water and TLC

Who mentioned 3.6 Ghz, your getting confused my friend. Must be spending all that money on that expensive processor of yours.

Read the post again...kingnothing mentioned it not me.

And please read the post in full next time before you make comments.I dont have an extreme edition cpu.I have a E6600.

3.6 might not be possible on default volts but I bet its possible with some tweaking.

£114 + Vat. Here's smiling at you Easy :D

Sorry but you are trying to sound funny but I dont have a EE 6800 I have a E6600 the slowest cpu in the conroe range with the full 4mb cache.

There just aint no way that a 6300 will do 3.6ghz on stock volts LMAO!

So did I waste my money on a x6800 then?? :p :)

Stelly

best for phase really, on air I think you can get too close with the lower and cheaper models.

I have a E6600 stepping 5 B1 es, stuck at 375 fsb running Crossfire and Raid 0 on DFI 975XG (some guys can get 400, but most boards are stuck @ 375) . To be really honest, I think the E6700 rules for 24/7 air, the 10X multi really helps out. Many board are picky at around 400fsb+, the 10X multi gives the room required to get around this.

Ah well its something unique, everyone is going to have an E6600 so I guess I'm going to have to look on the bright side of things

i wouldnt go back to a locked multiplier, every day or so im changing the multiplier and settings. I even tried 6 x 400 lol

if i had to chose between the 6600 or a 6700 though id take the latter,
9 doesnt seem right anymore :p

I dont think the 6700 is worth it either tbh

In effect the E6600 does represent better value for money. My comment above was aimed at those hoping to hit around 3.7ghz (on air) for everyday use. The fsb strain on the motherboards is too great atm, anything over 400fsb is too random, other conditions come into play too (the very best clocking boards do not run Crossfire atm, most have a single PCIEX16 and a PCIE X4), the Asus boards can clock well, but that too is random.

In all other cases the E6600 is better value.
