Considering buying a console...

a lot more reliable console which won't break down and scratch all your discs.
Wrong.

The games catalouge is about to get a whole lot better for the PS3 especially from November onwards!
As will Xbox360's... Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Project Gotham Racing 4 amongst others...

Don't miss out on MGS4 & GTA either omg! Can't wait!
He wouldn't be missing out on GTA on Xbox360, he would however be getting additional content should he so wish.

Not to mention Assassins Creed and Call of Duty 4...
He can also get those on the PS3 without the additional delays.

SDF defence rule #1 .. mention noice. Check.
SDF defence rule #2 .. mention reliabiliy. Check.
SDF defence rule #3 .. mention blu-ray and disc space. Check.

..

My reply.

Get a 360, it's noisy, yes, has had poor reliability, yes (mine haven't been bad but I recognise others have), has some large rpgs come on 3 discs (shock!) but it's got the best games. Win.

Erm wasnt it the PS3's fault that GTA got delayed :p

Also didnt they say the 360 version is the one to get due to more content/downloadable content/chapters etc.

Persoally, I prefer the PS3 as a console.

It's quiet, reliable and I really like XMB.

At the moment I play my 360 more but not a whole lot more as I am sitll playing some of the PS2 games I missed such as FF12 and Okami.

Metal Gear, Final Fantasy and SOTC are probably on my top 5 list of the best games ever made, so I can't wait to see more of them.

I still think Halo 3 is amazing, as is Bioshock but MGS, SOTC and FF are special franchises. It's also kind of funny that LittleBigPlanet got dismissed earlier, it's not just a create your own level game :/ but whatever. It suites my tastes :)

You are such a broken record, it's not funny. Run SDF by any chance?

Didnt you hear that SDF is run by the same people who run the Wii60 site? The Microsoft/ nintendo fans made a Pro Sony site which was ultra Fanboy to sony for what reason (apart from the obvious ones) I wouldnt like to guess ;)

Im sure GTA4 will fit on a DVD9 on the 360, I expect the PS3 version will have duplicate textures on the BD as a BD player read times are slower than DVD9 (peak), it will probably use 7.1 lossless audio on the PS3 also, which is starting to become more common place on PS3 games. Possibly the PS3 version will install to the HDD, 360 it may be an option ala NGS on the PS3, so core uses without HDD can still play, whereas the Premium and Elite version can install to HDD to lower load times. All in all it will be a fantastic game on both systems.

Why can't people accept that both are decent consoles and its really down to personal choice, I 100% would rather have a PS3 than an Xbox360, I had a 360 and sold it, but I also totally understand why someone would want a 360 over a PS3.

To the OP... Read my comment on the first page, Its probably just about the most non-biased comment you will find on here. This place is unfortunately full of fanboys, do not listen to them, make your own mind up about which console would be better for you.

Pretty much right on there!
Both consoles will have great games, most multiplats will be the same on each platform, and most do the same kinda job as a media centre. In the end it depends on the games your interested in and if you have owned a PS2 and like Sony franchise games, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Tourismo, God of war etc then get a PS3 if you have had an Xbox and prefered Microsoft franchise games Halo, PGR, Forza etc then get a 360.

Its amazing how in the OP it doesnt mention games what so ever and only mentions media streaming - yet every single reply nearly states games are better on .....(enter your choice here)

I personally dont think reliability can really be argued - there is no doubt that even now MS have a significant problem, yes we believe fixes are in place but nothing can be confirmed for a few months really imo

From a streaming perspective there is really little difference with XP - yes if the user has Vista maybe an X360 makes more sense now, maybe it doesnt

After talking to the head of Sony 3rd party relations and watching numerous video's it's still the impression I get of Little Big Planet.

I can't wait for Little Big Planet - the tools and ease in which you create and share levels looks awesome. Other games have tried something similar, but nearly all look archaic in comparison. It comes bundled with loads of pre-made levels and I suspect running about and playing and/or creating with up to 3 friends is going to be one of gamings more unique experiences. Bring it on.

And the Boss battles ive heard about seem fantastic! Think there will be a whole load of levels stored on the BD, they hope some of the other game developers will join in!

So what do you think he meant by 'as well'. As well as... grilling steak? As well as... drying my hair?

I plan on using it as a media box as well to stream mp3s/vids from my PC.

360 has the larger game library (because it's been out for longer), although I'd say not many good games out lately, which is where the PS3 falls down.

Also, you'll have to put up with the dodgy reliability issues.

For the media streaming you could easily use the PS3 and get some decent games in a month or two.

I don'0t own either, and don't give a (excrement) about either.

SO I will say look at future and current games and see what you like.
I think Xbox360 will edge it for current games, but the PS3 does have a strong future.. eventually when game developers can be bothered and its price is down to £149. I do think the cell can give an advanatage in may be 3-5 games min the PS3 lifetime, and hte Blueray can give an advanatge in 4-7 games say. The Extrax gfx of the Xbox360 will maybe be used to effect in 1-2 games at most. Idon' consider the differences significant enough nor the importance of graphics that important either.

I love my wii and reccomend it.
