Considering new car time

It is very tempting, as I still have a huge chunk of my redundancy payout left from previous job even after paying the mortgage off :D

This was the one I was looking at:

I do have a driveway for 4 cars outside my house, so a charger would easily work for me. Just don't see the point of it yet, not until full EV's are an absolute must.
Honestly, as someone who only bought an EV so I could continue using an EV leccy tariff (and also had a 440i as my previous car)...should've swapped to an EV earlier :cry:
They're not hard to live with at all
Barring the depreciation (which isn't excessive unless you buy new/nearly new), the overall cost of ownership works out cheaper over the lifetime of the car - at least in my case, so YMMV.

I could understand that if you were driving a 911 or something, but you're looking at very standard 'white goods' type cars, an EV will drive a lot better and be miles cheaper to run than all of them.

But if you really don't want one then fair enough but do so knowing the facts

cvt, per Marshalls add, seem an acquired taste, versus a manual or auto/paddle box (mazda 3 say) to conserve petrol fun, along with japanese reliability;

can see depreciation on EV's transferring to petrol cars soon with the ev range/charge rate/insurance cost, stigma reducing with new ev's
so, a cross-over point where putting a chunk of money into a very new petrol is unwise - so hang onto existing car

Maybe chancellor will throw in a sweetener too on public ev chargers, even though that can be parity with petrol cost.

Hmm good spot, had no idea what that was. Just did a bit of research, basically belts instead of gears. Not keen on that idea.

OP got the sack from his WFH. He's now doing a 70 mile round commute.

70miles x 200 working days = 14k annual commute mileage

Jebus, that is 100% BEV territory I should read as well. :D

EDIT: 14k miles at 7ppkWh = £326 or less 3mpkWH.
