Continental Football **spoilers**

There's some cup games midweek on telly if you can't wait till the weekend for more footy. :p

Wed:

Valencia v Racing (19.00) SS1 (Agg: 1-1)
Barcelona v Atletico (21.00) SS1 (Agg: 3-1)

Thurs:

Athletic Bilbao v Osasuna (20.00) SS1 (Agg: 1-1)

Some good games, Barcelona obviously and a Basque derby with Bilbao and Osasuna.

Barcelona are more than likely to win the title now which will aide Messi in nexts years vote for world player of the year. If he doesn't get injured I am sure he will be the favourite. Ronaldo will never score 40+ goals in a season again. Its a freak one off but he rightly deserves to get it his year

I'd be surprised if any midfielder scores 40+ again.
The irony is that Ronaldo and Messi are the best 2 players in the world, yet neither are the best performing in their sides at the moment.

Id love to see Ronaldo and Messi play in the same lineup, wish we had a world allstars team or something :(

They do in america dont they? MLS All star west coast and east coast or something. They love that stuff over there. Happens in the basketball too. The closest we ever get to all star games is charity events. Last one i saw had Ibrahimović, Mancini, Gerrard and a few others. I forget what it was for but it was at Old trafford

Yeah there's the odd charity lineup. But Id love to see a one off europe XI vs rest of world XI or something. Probably a pipe dream with all the different bodies that would have to be involved, not to mention the conflicting fixtures lists but it would be awesome to watch!

They do those too but they're just charity events also. There will never be a competitive Europe Vs Rest of the World game.

Anyway Ronaldo and Messi wouldn't be in the same side

When Messi plays Barca are a totally a different animal, you could say he is the linchpin of the side and is definitely their best performer.

He scored a hat trick last week and almost had a 4th lol so I got no idea what Nokkon is on about but so far this season messi is so far ahead of ronaldo easily player of the year ;)

Messi is on course to at the moment.

Halfway through the season and he has 20 goals in 22 games. Multiply this by two and he may have 40 goals in 44 games.

Obviously its very optimistic as he will probably get injured at least once before the season is over and also the games will be tougher in the second half of the season (i.e. more likely to play stronger teams in later games in Spanish Cup and CL). On the other hand, Messi raises his game against bigger teams, so I don't see why not.

Henry from what I've watched this season.

Yes, he did score a hat-trick. Just because he did doesn't mean he's been their best performer over a season. He has been very good, but as I said above, Henry has been outstanding.
