Control Resonant

Yep preloading now. I just went ahead and purchased direct on Steam, little bit of extra support for Remedy :)

Looks like it's a simultaneous WW release, so unlocks in UK at 3PM tomorrow.

I've just decided to play control again before I get into resonant.. So I'll probably get to resonant in about 3 weeks lol...

Same here, bought from Loaded the other week, price seemed good at the time. Now preloading.

I've purposefully stayed well away from the reviews, so not to spoil any of the game, apart from the headlines that seem to be very positive

The game got leaked day early, while it's awesome they don't put DRM on it (from a paying customer PoV) I do feel for Remedy, every sale lost I guess hurts them a lot more than some others

Theres 6h difference between it and Silent Hill Townfall, and there are 10x the people grabbing Silent Hill. I think that's kinda indicative of how much appeal Remedy games have... I guess the other variable is Control Resonant is 105gb, which is 3 times the size of SH so that might be a factor.

Anyway I'm all preloaded up on Steam. Just wish the scene had given them a day or two's grace before dropping it.

To be fair too, maybe it's just me cause I haven't pirated in years but when I checked last night the more well known girl site didn't have it, could that also be a reason?

I've got it downloading at present. For those interested I thought this was a handy hints and tips video from Arktix looking at some good builds early builds and how they relate to some of the combat mechanics in the game:

I'm sure lots of people would want to work it out for themselves, but personally I quite like some pointers.

I also see there's a new NVIDIA graphics driver that supposedly optimises the game, so possibly worth checking for if you have an NVIDIA GPU.

Well this has not gone well.

GoG launcher required a .net update and now my display is glitching even on the desktop.

I'm not totally sure how to fix this which is really annoying, tried a driver reinstall/.net uninstall etc..

Any suggestions? I'm on a 5090fe if it matters but this started very specifically exactly when I opened control.

Downloading now but probably won't get a chance to play until tomorrow.

Interestingly, after the 2 day early access PS5 beta test they've nerfed the game for general release :p

That’s a quick reaction at least.

Well I'm confused. I downloaded the game via Steam earlier today before it was officially launched, all 100GB of it. Just went to play it and it's downloading all the data again; what's that about? It's at times like this I'm glad I download from Steam at 1,000 Mbps.

Done an hour, got to the first boss. Absolutely wild as expected.
I'm liking melee a lot better than I thought I would.

Graphics are cranked to RT max with DLSS Quality, FGx2, at 5k2k. Not measured FPS but I would guess over 100. Turning off FG with DLSS Qual, or keeping FG on but going to DLAA both feel like an order of magnitudeo of a perf hit.

Minor gripes with the animation and fluidity. Feels a lot looser than Control - which I think it needs to be for a more open world with melee combat - but loses some of the realism with the animations as a result.

Got to the first boss, and it's really hard. I'm not really a fan of souls-like combat, so I might bounce off this if I can't beat it.

I hate souls games and thankfully this is nowhere near them.

Only tried the boss once (had to get back from lunch) and it seems like you gotta rush in and out, and dodge the projectiles

Played about 2 hours, hard to put down. Loving the feel of the melee combat, the platforming, the Remedy weirdness, and how the story has started.

Path tracing seems quite well optimized. I suppose it helps that there aren't too many complex objects in the world, but image quality is very stable. Fairly low additional input lag with FG too if you want to use it.
