Control Resonant

Seems a bit like DMC with modern Doom finisher mechanics.

Not sure how I feel about the gameplay change. We'll see. I'll play it either way.

I always take those recommendations with a big pinch of overly optimistic dev salt. My PC matches all the requirements of the far right column, the CPU exceeds it and i would be running at 2160p. Whilst I'm sure it would run as a game with those settings, it would be a long way from optimal and I will end up turning things down / switching settings off for a smoother overall performance. I do like the choice of Omen for the trailer song; always time in my day for a bit of Prodigy.
Do keep in mind the tiny small print on that set of recommendations, that all of those are without framegen being turned on.

Are they? It’s got the frame gen presets listed does it not?
Yeah, says it in tiny little writing at the bottom there, marked with the asterisk

I'm finally giving Remedy the money they deserve. Refused to pay for Alan Wake 2 on EGS, so given them full whack on pre-order.

Complete radio silence on it as well. Not watched any trailers beyond the initial reveal.

Knowing my luck this is the game where they finally let me down :D

So I've been tinkering all day on my Dell Alienware aw2725df. Reading up on HDR as I felt like I was just completely missing half the feature of this monitor in the first place. Once I got the firmware updated I could get HDR1000 instead of just 450. Control does look gorgeous with HDR working properly I have to say. Although enabling all the ray tracing features supported I could just make 60fps solid using DLSS and all textures / LOD etc set to Medium. Really taxes the system :O

Pretty much what I expected. Loved the first game so looking forward to this one.

It's strange how some reviewers love the combat e.g. Rockpapershotgun and others say it's not very good e.g. PC Gamer. It seems you either love it or hate it.

Was the same story for the original Control was it not? I will play it from day one as i love Remedy games, but i'm not sure the setting will beat the first game. We shall see.

Looks super demanding on PC if you want max settings at 4K. Dlss and framegen to the rescue.

It's concerning that Nvidia Reflex is now tied to frame generation in this game (as far as I can tell from the settings on PC Gamer's website) and the pathtracing update to the new James Bond game; this makes latency numbers look significantly better with frame gen than without which neutralises one of the major criticisms around frame gen.

Perhaps it's Nvidia's new tactic to get us all to use frame gen.

I'm skimming reviews to avoid spoilers but the main theme I'm seeing from the negs is the combat is repetitive. Will have to see if I feel the same, but I think this is likely down to the scale of the world which means more fights. And quite possibly Remedy fixing the lack of it with the first game. Control 1 left me wanting more, but not enough to redo the same fights over and over.
