Controller versus mouse and KB

Back when I used to avidly play Quake 3 on the PC a keyboard and mouse was great. It was an ultra competitive game where the right setup (and lego brick graphics) gave you the edge.

Nowdays im not nearly as competitive and would rather sit back, relax on a big telly with a cup of tea and a controller in my hand. I can do this comfortably knowing everyone has the same setup and has no advantage over me.

I don't believe this turn speed argument tbh. If you are playing in a game with players of similar skill and similar weapon balance then if you are shot from behind regardless of controls you are at a disadvantage and turn speed will do little to help you, you will have to do something to tip the fight in your favour by making them miss (or choose a different target)

In Halo if I get shot from behind, I rarely bother with turning around, the enemy has a one shot advantage, I just run round the nearest corner or find a bit of cover to use. I then lob a few grenades to put him off chacing me. Wait for my shields to regenerate (if I have time) and then look to rejoin the fight. Hopefully the person that shot me was either wounded by my grenades, or has been shot at by another player. This will give me the advantage.
If neither have happened and my shields have recovered, then I have an equal chance at killing the guy that shot me, as we both have the same health and probably a similar weapon.

You can actually be every bit as accurate, just not as fast.
I disagree with that, with a mouse you can ‘pixel aim’ but with a joy pad, even when using the slightest movement, you always seem to overshoot the intended target by an amount.

I would imagine that setting the movement to really slow would correct this, but that would then make the non aim movement horrendous.

Scort.

I'm not sure you can alter the speed of the left analogue stick(movement), only the right stick (aim) and tbh I overshoot the target more with the mouse than the joypad, it comes down to practice.

jus my 2cents worth and only been reading the thread and i'm hearing pcgamers talking about turning 180 in 00.01 sort of speeds doesnt that take away from realism of a game .its just if tried to do that in real in real life holding a gun your'll probably get unbalanced and fall over.
