Convince me to buy a 360 (or not)

Ok thanks for the replys they have been a great help and ive now decided that im going to try and get a 360 asap(if i can find one), been looking to get a premium pack and pgr to start with seems no where online has them at the moment other than in bundles with 3+ games. Going to ring round all the shops local to me this morning and see if i can get hold of one so wish me luck im gonna need it :p .

The thing that bugs me is loads of people are taking the **** now. One shop wanted £339 for a core with a game and a memory card. Ive done every game store within 40 miles of my house. I will try again next week.

Just about everywhere I phoned had cores.

**** ive only just realised I will need a wireless network adapter as well. For some reason I thought the wireless was built into the 360 :( Another £60.

Isn't it possible to use a standard USB dongle type for a pc?

I thought I had read somewhere that is possible. They are half the price of the 360 model.

Or you could just use a Wireless Access Point :) Use the bundled cable to connect it to the 360's Ethernet port.

Why not just order a Premium pack off the Game website, they get them in all the time. :)

The premium doesnt have a network adaptor does it? Game arent taking any orders for premiums only the cores. If you go to order it says enter email addy and they will contact you.

Also If i have a linksys wireless router upstairs are you saying I can buy another for downstairs and the two can cross communicate? Is that hard to set up?

Thats right :) Shouldn't be difficult at all, you just set the second router / access point to extend the range of your existing wireless network. It basically becomes a repeater (like a switch).

Does that create any lag at all? Edit Oh so its not another router its a access point?

2nd edit

Linksys WAP54G 54Mbps Wireless-G Access Point (NW-001-LS

So thats what I'm looking at right?

Newb question whats the difference between that and a router?

Yeah they contact you when they are in stock so you can get one, or you could phone your local Game shop, and leave your name there, as they will keep you one when they get them in, thats what i did, and got mine 3x days later. :)

They are only selling them in bundles(game that is) from what ive seen and dont want to be forced into buying 2 games i dont really want, but it maybe the only way to get one eventually.

I know at least 6 people with 360's some from launch some from just before christmas, some just after christmas and 1 quite recently, all without any problems what so ever.

I had a core which I sold to buy a premium and both of mine have been fine also.

Get one, i aint gamed on my PC for a good few years now, i spend most of my time on the net, my x1800 XT is just going to waste, only games ive really played and completed over the past few years is HL2, and Fear, but ive had my 360 for about 3 weeks now, and ive gamed on it longer already, been getting well into PGR3, and now im giving that a break and getting into Condemnded, and im loving it!!.

I haven't played a Bad Game on the 360 as of yet, although finding one that kept me interested on the PC was hard work. I dont know what it is but you actually WANT to complete the SP games on the 360, where as the PC I could never be bothered.

They wont take names now. Atleast the 6 within 30 miles of me wont. They just ask for you to keep ringing between 9 and 11. If they have stock in pitches in between those times.

So I just keep ringing and will bunk of work when one comes in. Bloody frustrating. One premium £279, couple of games and a network adapter = £400. £400 that i'm trying to give microsoft that they clearly don't want ;)

Make sure you get the Premium pack, as you'll want to download loads of stuff from the live marketplace(onto the bundled HDD), plus you get the cracking wireless controller.

If your using a CRT TV check to see if it has a RGB input, if so get a RGB cable also. S-Video is the next best thing to RGB. The composite lead is awful.

Play and charge kit is also worth it(saves buying batteries).

If you like car games get PGR 3. Other games I've enjoyed are King Kong, Call of Duty 2(loved this) and Condemned.

If you can't get all the above hardware I would just be patient and maybe ICO 2 that is due out next week for the PS2 will keep you occupied.
