Cooking with Jonny69: Baked bean feast

It is sad to think you didn't have the capability to take and host pictures only 2 years ago.

Got a DVD player yet? :D

That looks pretty tasty. It is amazing how much differently we do these in the US.
Actually it was just that all the digital cameras decided to die at the same time :(

What's in your American bean feast? I think I NEED to know now :D

I showed this thread to my dad in the hopes that he would make it for lunch, however he decided that beans on toast were a fitting alternative :( fail.

Actually, looking back, they are similar. We would start with Pork N Beans because the flavour is a little better. Smoked bacon instead of sausage. No potatoes (beans are starchy enough). And then there would be a tasty BBQ sauce and possibly some whiskey mixed in.

Some people like to add brown sugar, but IMO that sweetens 'em up too much.

To improve, add black beans and chili beans to the mix. Serve with fresh cornbread to mop up the sauce.

Looking good. Used to make something like this back in the day, but would use curry powder for a bit of flavour instead of the hot stuff you did, would also add a tin of sweetcorn and then serve over cheese on toast!

Damn you! I'm starving now, will defo be cooking that tonight, looks effortless to make and quick, mmmmmmmm, maybe served on a couple of slices of toast?

I've been living in South Africa for the last 3 months, due home in 2 weeks. This will be the first breakfast/brunch meal i make when I get back. I'm addicted to their All Gold Ketchup now though so a spoon of that and a dash of dave's insanity sauce for a kick and good to go. Can't wait!

P.S Thanks Jonny, it was your curry recipie that inspired me to start making my own curries from scratch about a year ago!

@ Thorpy, Yes the potatoes will have been boiled first. But as mentioned you can just use a tin of pototes to save hassle as these have been cooked already if you dont have any left over spuds knocking around.
