Cooteastrophe

Well thats got to be the end of him. This is the problem nowadays. Make a mistake and you can bet your ass anything else you have done that you shouldn't have will come to the surface as well.
One reason why you have to delete any old social media accounts if you ever get famous, as soon as some controversy breaks everyone is mining for some questionable joke you retweeted when you were a teenager.

More generally though the issue is everyone now walks around with a reasonable quality camera/video recorder in their pocket, 25+ years ago you could get away with anything unless you were famous enough to have paparazzi stalking you.

Not condoning this geezer, just I'm sure people used to do the same or worse. A bit like being a Prince must have been fantastic a century ago just travelling round the world putting it about a bit, now it's more a curse than anything with all the media stuff.

Next video to come out will be him discussing match fixing, like John Higgins. The clips I have seen so far and the apparent ambience/setup they have, it looks so much like the John Higgins style situation. Surprised Cootes hasn't come out and claimed he was "going along" with them with the intension of "exposing" a criminal match fixing organisation.

It does feel weird for all of this to come out in a fairly organised way - wonder who has it in for him.

It's probably nonsense but twitter investigators have concluded that it's vengeful Villa fans after he didn't give them a penalty at the weekend. It feels a bit 2+2=5 after the first video was shot the night Coote was 4th official when Villa beat Liverpool and the videos have come out after Liverpool have beat Villa in a match where Villa fans felt hard done by. The theory is Coote's ended up at a post match party with some Villa fans but that seems rather speculative. It doesn't look like he knows the other guy in the video (or doing the filming) particularly well but there's nothing to suggest he's a Villa fan.

This was my first thought
One of the rumors doing the rounds is that the pgmol were aware of the initial video a month or so after it was recorded as he was only involved in 2 Liverpool games in between July 2020 and December 2022 - an fa cup tie and a carabo cup game 18 odd months after the Burnley game which he is referencing in the video.

Seems that way, although it's really odd that it came out the day after he reffed us again and waved that foul off on Salah which would have resulted in a Red card to the defender.
