Cops wreck another supercar... Or so the daily fail thinks!

Lambo's have Audi engines so you can't claim any VW's are supercars, unless you go down the route of VW owning Lambo and Porsche, but both have Audi engines......What about the old VW campers with Porsche engines, oh wait.....Now I'm confused.

Wait I've got it, Supercar by proxy lol

Many many times its been placed in super car territory for its out of class performance, looks (subjective)

I wouldn't say that was subjective.

It obviously has the looks of a supercar.

Its no "classic" supercar I don't think anyone could claim that but it does technically meet the criteria tho personally I don't think you can really have an "affordable" supercar.

Out of class performance? Looks? It's just... A Golf?

Your posts get more and more odd. Do you actually know anything about cars?

Tell us more about this criteria you keep referring to.

General critieria used for a "supercar" is something that has an outstanding component to its performance, it should stand out from the crowd - usually visually i.e. exotic looks, eye watering price tag, etc. etc.

Not many people would look at it today and class it as a supercar granted but go back to when it was released and it was often classed in supercar territory.

Just.... No.

There was nothing outstanding about the performance of the VR6. If anything it was sub par.

Lets imagine a lineup of supercars...

Ferrari F40, Ferrari F50, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Countach, Lamborghini Diabolo, Lamborghini Murcielago, Bugatti Veyron, Porsche 911 Turbo, Volkswagen Golf VR6

Fits right in.

My dad had one of those Ibiza's in the 80's with the 'system porsche engine'. That was a super car as well, it had one of the super car criteria covered with porsche somewhere on the engine!

Is it just me or is Clarkson sounding a lot posher in that video compared to now
He does, but the old TG was very matter-of-fact. It was basically like being read magazine articles, whilst being shown a video of the car driving.

I never noticed before how much of an underbite Clarkson had. He must have had that fixed.
