Core 9000 series

The problem is, as has been proven in the past many times, there will always be enough people willing to pay whatever these companies want every single time. They never learn a lesson because too many people refuse to make them learn it.
Exactly blame them or just use some patience or common sense and wait until prices return to normality.

On the other hand, the i7-9800X looks like it might be a bit of a dark horse. Assuming that hits at RRP, which is pretty unlikely, the premium for AVX512 and more PCI lanes has dropped significantly this gen.

Depends on what you want it for really. Skylake-X was a way off Intel's mainstream performance in terms of gaming, and these will be using that same architecture with the mesh. They don't seem to have been able to get the power consumption under control either, given the 165W TDP, which was another major black mark for Skylake-X. They can excel in some workloads though, so long as you can keep them cool. I imagine the 9900K will suit most desktop users a lot better though.

They are quoting intels own figures to show the chip in its best light rofl... look at the Ram speed, its well known those AMD chips will gain a ton more perf if the ram was 3200mhz... hahah utterly pathetic set of benchmark results.

They are using the specs specified by the manufacturer. They certainly won't gain much going from 2933 to 3200. And if they want to bring overclocking into it then they will lose even more due to the 2700x already close to it's limits at stock.

I don't understand the outrage Intel or the retailers can charge what they want ultimately the consumers are the ones to blame, they'll drop prices if no one buys it's quite simple really.

If you don't like the price then don't buy it, wait for the prices to drop or just go with AMD. It's not like people didn't already know that these would be expensive.

It's more to do with the fact that Intel said the prices were;

i5-9600K $262

i7-9700K $374

i9-9900K $488

But retailers are selling WAY above those prices.

If the UK retailers were selling at those prices converted into £ + vat then I doubt people would be complaining

Then just don't buy It and they can't profit from your impatience.

Petition Gibbo and bypass his store and wait to see how long it takes for him to fold. Seriously It's ridiculous that people will allow someone to hold them to ransom, if that is how they feel they are being treated. Honestly I can wait longer than they can because I make my money elsewhere and someone will drop prices before I will spend.

That simply isn't true though. The difference between 2933MHz with default timings versus 3200MHz with tightened timings can be gigantic in some cases. Hell, the difference between two 3200MHz kits can be significant.

Both of those are 3200MHz kits (the Geil being CL16 versus a CL14 Corsair). Even discounting the 20% gap in Ashes of the Benchmark, you're still seeing 5-10% in real games. Just from a few tweaked timings, let alone touching clock speed or properly tweaking timings manually.

I'm still on my I7 3820 @ 4.6, prices are taking the ****! Ended up spending all my PC money on my car and feel a lot better for it.

I'm just gonna wait and see what AMD bring out next. **** Intel and Nvidia with all this price gouging nonsense. They're shooting themselves in the foot in the long-term, AMDs increased capital will (should!!) allow them to start to become more competitive in the coming years. (I hope...)

I'm wondering if they need both have limited supply. Maybe they know they can sell what few products they have to those rich enough not to care. Reminds me of the late 90's I couldn't afford Intel then, back to AMD, wasn't a bad thing then either!

My only explanation for the pricing is that Gibbo is sad that he can't delid and sell at a premium, it being pre-soldered.

At those prices I'd be better off ordering from the US and paying the VAT and customs.

You have a point that it is nonsense but I have an explanation for it.
Pure greed. Christianity teaches us that greed is a sin but most (if not all) owners of Intel and nVidia are masons who believe in deism.

Greed (Latin, avaritia), also known as avarice, cupidity, or covetousness, is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of desire. ... As defined outside Christian writings, greed is an inordinate desire to acquire or possess more than one needs, especially with respect to material wealth. https://www.google.de/search?q=chri...rome..69i57.5010j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
