Core 9000 series

Genuinely surprised. How come?

Last year (October) the 1800X/6800K/4930K with the old WOT engine, in addition to EU4/CK2/HOI4/Stellaris, couldn't cut it holding back the GTX1080Ti Xtreme.
Needed something really fast single thread, especially at HOI4. There even then 5.1Ghz isn't enough but I digress.
So 8600K it was, since the 8700K was nowhere to be found, and any existed at ridiculous price only.

And wrote many times here, that someone should pick Intel over AMD, if he plays games based in the Clausewitz engine (all PDX made games) and plans to overclock to 5Ghz+

That AMD is better value for money today, in light of the Intel pricing overall, and the 9900K, has nothing to do with my CPU.
Is hard fact as a consumer, that for the 99% of the current games, a 2700X makes better purchase. Especially when the price difference is so big (£310) that would allow someone to buy a better GPU.
Which is also the difference of a RTX2080 to RTX2080Ti, or from RX580/GTX1060 to Vega64 or GTX1080Ti!!!
Even as we speak 8700K pricing doesn't many any sense over a 2700X/2700, leaving you to spend more on GPU or holding that cash for Zen 2 next year.
And that extra money spent on the GPU, is greater improvement than the 10%

Because lets not forget. That "12.7%" is already with a GTX1080Ti at 1080p. Any deviation to higher resolution or lesser card and the difference is Zero.
So that price difference is a better GPU or Gsync/Freesync monitor.

And believe me, I was looking forward to put the 9900K on the Z370-I, having monoblock for it.
But not that this price. I will be stupid to buy it. Especially if you consider that the 2920X going to be at same price in UK (if not cheaper).

Which is why i make it clear i think £600 for a CPU that's only 12% faster than its less than half the price competitor is madness.

You know what, IMO at this point people shouldn't buy it, they should wait to see Ryzen 3000 before making a decision, its less than 6 months away.

People won’t buy it if they feel it’s overpriced...you do not need to march outside Downing Street to protest...:p

Or stand in the street Like a bible brasher breaching the word of the lord...or AMD

It’s basic economics Price, Supply and Demand...

Remember the expensive AMD Athlon 64 FX...it was priced too high...it was scrapped and they sold of the silicon as the Opteron 170 CABYE Stepping chip. An Athlon Fx in disguise...for hundreds less

This is Intel we are talking about. Enough people will buy the 9900K for its stupid price and they know it. You see Apple and their iPhone X and iPhone XS?!?! That's a clear example.

Would there be much difference at 4K and a 2080Ti, between a 2700X or the 9900K?

Or just noticeable at lower res where typically CPU limited?

2560x1440 and above it will be 0 let alone 4K, with a well tuned 2700X.

No even tempted at US pricing for the 9700K or 9900K given that it would be a straight swap in part for you? US 9700K is cheaper than a UK 8700K and 9900K is only £30 more. What price would it have to be for you to bite? Bearing in mind Intel will never price match AMD.

The 9900K is $530 before tax, add 20% to that. ($636)
The 9700K is $410, again add 20% tax to that.

They are just as expensive in the US.

Those CPUs will de-appreciate a lot in 6 months. It would be lucky to sell them half price second hand.
