Cornwall

I agree with you there mate, newquay is a bit 18 - 30, I've never actually spent more than about 20 minutes there whilst I'm just passing through when I'm out cruising round in the summer.

Perranporth is ok, very toristy, full of restaurants and takeaways. Certainly not worth spending a whole day there, maybe a few hours, late afternoon/early evening if you want some good food, but you wouldn't want to make your stay too long.

I went to Senon last year with my ex, sadly it was very foggy when we went so we didn't stay long.

It's become kind of a tradition at work now that each summer we pop over the bridge, meet up with the one guy we have based in Cornwall and camp somewhere for a few days :) You cna find some decent (for down here anyway) paying jobs, my company are one of the main employers in Devon and Cornwall and positions do come up now and agian, there's a nice IT job just come up now but it's in Devon :(

Yeah I didn't find perran great in the day, just sat on the beach really (went camping for a couple of days a year or so ago). However the night out was actually pretty good, that beach bar is tops :)

Last year was St Ives and that was nicer, I've always liked the town from when I was really young and used to go stay with my dad when he was working there. I mean they even have a Winneh the Pooh shop.

I usually stay at a camping/ caravaning site in Crantock just outside Newquay.

Oh man, I've got such great memories of paddling my rubber dingy around the sea at Crantock (I was about 4 lol..) :D The little stream which comes along the side of the beach from the sea is awesome, it's a great beach.

we went to cornwall last summer, stayed at holywell bay caravan park, near newquay, loved it, cornwall really is a nice part of the country, hopefully we are going down to perranporth this summer, holywell bay was a tad quiet and not many amenities, but perranporth looks a bit busier :)

Oh, newquay zoo is excellent too.

Your not to far away. I am in northwood park Down by the crem / king charles.
I like you would like to get out of this town.(City)
Was offered the job of running a co down in Shard somerset in october last year. I absolutly love the west country and was really up for it talked it over with family etc and the move was on. Then the directors of said co pulled the position for time being I was really cheesed off.

don't bring up kids in cornwall, they won't thank you for it.

in summer its all good with the beaches and stuff, in winter its deader than a dead thing that was run over five days ago.

the thing is, when its nice its very very nice, when its bad its horrid!

I live near truro, have a car so its not so bad now, but before then it was evil, the busses here are always arriving "dreckly" (maybe later, maybe) and most of the interesting areas are closed over winter, its better than it was but its still bad.

I'd move somewhere north cost but away from camborn/redruth without kids,
Truro/Falmouth is good for people WITH kids, penryn is moving up in the world and has good bus links now, but it was realy bad at one point so it could still fall back into the armpit of the universe.

newquay is ok apart from the drugs, torists, nightclubs and all that stuff!

I'd say somewhere close to truro/falmouth is good, north cost gets the bad weather in winter (and its prittty bleak too)

no-wheres so far away down here that you can't drive there (15 mins from truro to Godreavy - best beach for out of chilling and surfing, north cost, near St Ives/Hayle)

work is another matter entirely
if you've got it, good, if you don't, though.

Would agree with most said on here, especially abotu raising kids down there. I moved from Cannock with my family when I was 10 down to a little town called St Just, reckon I'm most westerly on ere hehe. However in this day and age there really is not a lot to do around the coastal areas, beaches do eventually get boring and in the winter it's hard to find things to amuse yourself.

I'm 19 now and living in Bristol for university, and at this time in my life I think this place is great so much to do however a lot less relaxed and driving is a nightmare lol. I wouldn't go back to Cornwall any time soon apart going home to visit family.

Thats my input anyway lol.

Oh and gotta love The Villa :p

Yep, lovely beach. :)

Great for swimming/ messing around at on one end......surfing at the other.

I go to Cornwall most years if I can, trully love the place.

There is just something about the area and the slower pace of life.

Tintagel for instance, amazing.

Newquay has really changed over the years though.

Up to about 8.30pm there are loads of families around.......after that it becomes like all the city centres in the south east and its full of drunks and people pimping their clubs.

We got caught there with our kids at about 9 one night and it really was a little scary to be honest.

I live somewhere near penzance ;) Be prepared for rather poor wages compared to the rest of the country mate. I don't really know what it is that you want to be doing but the wages aren't brilliant down here.

The air is clean, the locals are friendly and most pubs etc are welcoming. Though I have found a few in local towns to be a bit clickey (sp?). The weather is pretty dire most of the time and is very unpredictable down here. We got some lovely beaches and I guess depending on what you like doing there is something for most people.....

Its not as rough down here as up country but its getting that way I think as I read about more trouble and see more weirdo's walking the streets shouting things at other people.

Where do you want to move to out of interest?

Hopefully the wages will improve when West Cornwall is properly connected to the rest of the UK! Once the A30 bottleneck at Gossmoor has been dualled, journey times will reduce dramatically, reducing the cost of moving goods out of Cornwall.
I'm sure that many companies would like to relocate to Cornwall, to take advantage of the lower employment costs, and better quality of life. More jobs will push wages up.

The problem with Penzance is that it's at the end of the railway line. The wierdos escaping London have to get off the trains, and just stay in Penzance.

I used to live in St Maybn near Bodmin, Cornwall is a beautiful place, really nice place to live and the people are very friendly. Housing is expensive (thanks to the rich buying up the housing stock) and high paid jobs are pretty thin on the ground.

It can be pretty queit in the winter and come the summer the roads are clogged with tourists and the population quadrupels. The scenery and beaches are a major plus, the weather is mild but boy does it rain, I can remember one autumn it rain every day for two week straight!
