Corsair Carbide Air 540 Builds

In the end I managed to order 3x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2 for the front of my case, and a NZXT Sentry mix too, as I love the style of it.

I plan on getting a be quiet! 140mm fan for the back. What would be the be orientation for it do you think? Bear in mind I will have 3x front intake, 2x outtake on my H100i. I'm not really sure what I should really do with 140mm, I hear about all this positive pressure stuff, but does it really make that much of a difference?

Also I have 4x 3.5 inch HDD's, I'm sure I have seen a ghetto mod around OCUK forums involving velcro, but to be honest have no idea where to start with this, any suggestions?

I'll post some pictures once I am done guys. :)

Skittles, that looks amazing and 4.8 on the new cpu? Bloody hell thats really good. Thats an XSPC block right? Any reason why you went with that over the EK? I know that EK & Gigabyte have some isses like they don't have blocks for them because the PCB is different. But this looks amazing loving the yellow, should get some leds.

Yea, its all XSPC. Build quality seems generaly higher. The motherboard has a built in block but it's barbs only and a smaller size so would restrict flow.

Will be getting some yellow LED's for the CPU & GPU blocks at some point.

Skittles - Looks great. Can you tell me what model rads you have in there?

Did you have to mod the case at all or did you have enough space?

Thanks.

Hi Redten, there's an EX240 crossflow up top and a AX360 on the front. the 360 was a squeeze, I removed the filters and placed the fans on the other side of the fittings. It also prevents me from using the 2nd 3.5" drive bay at the bottom.

The back on the other hand was a pig. I've got 4 3.5" drives, 2 SSD's and a photon 170 res/pump combo squeezed in there :p

No more than mid *40's. I'm a hoarder :(

Theres a 4TB (in the front), 2x 2TB, 2x 500GB HDD's.. the 500's have survived a sound proofed Sonata v1 (HOT!) for about 5 years so heat hasn't done them any disadvantage before the 540.

Thanks, yes it really is a great cooler, I'm quite surprised just how well it works.

I have a question for anyone with a 540 case.

Is anyone having issues using USB 3.0 devices connected to the front panel? When I connect my USB 3.0 external hard drive to the front panel it doesn't work and I get hundreds of errors in Event Viewer saying 'An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR11 during a paging operation.'

If I connect the same hard drive to the USB 3.0 ports on the back of the motherboard it works fine with no errors. Also, if I connect a USB 2.0 device to the front panel that works fine, it's only 3.0 devices that give me errors.

I can't work out if its a physical problem with the case, a motherboard issue or a driver problem.

I am having the same problem, drives work fine in back ports but the front ports cause errors. Every think else works and the case is great.

That would make sense :p

I got an r9 290x for my desktop over the last few days and I was really surprised to find that there isn't a huge amount of room after the cooler shroud xD this sapphire tri-x cooler is a beast :p
