Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

Ive installed mine tonight. Idle temps are now down to 24-29 degrees, much the same as the akasa air cooler thats been replaced. Load temps tho have dropped by a good 10 - 12 degrees, now topping out at 69 degrees, whereas before it reached 79 degrees on one of the cores.

One cause of annoyance tho was actually trying to turn the cooler head so that it locked into place. Even with the screws barely making contact with the backplate i couldnt push the head down far enough to turn it and lock it in place. I ended up having to remove the ring, lock it in place while its in my hand then fix it to the backplate. But anyhow now its in its all good.

The fan that came with the kit has been set up as an intake as per the instructions and i have installed a side fan on my case ( antec 300 ) as exhaust. The top fan is also an exhaust.

So im pretty happy now that its in, and best of all, i can now access al 4 ram slots :D:cool:

I had that problem with the head too , it was a right PITA , well worth the effort though :)

Hi all,

I have a Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz cooled with a Tuniq tower in a antec P182 case. Now im going down to a P180mini. Would one of these make much of a difference to my temps. Dont really want to spend £60 odd if its going to make a small difference and my tuniq tower will still do the job fine.

Cant remember my temps with the tower I haven’t checked in a long time as my OC has been rock solid.

Thanks

I haven't overclocked and my idle temps according to realtemp at 3.33ghz stock are 31 to 39 depending on ambient. CPU never goes over mid 50's in gaming though. Are these crap temps ? I'll eventually reseat it and use some MX3 paste as the 1st time it took me a couple of go's to get it right (using the stock pase), so I'm probably loosing a few degrees there.

Just ordered but had to order 25 - need 4

If anyone else off here wants some i will have plenty spare when they arrive - contact me via here

They are 6/32 unc socket caps and are black and 1 1/2" long

Supplied ones by corsair are 1 1/4 " and not socket caps

Postage will be tiny

Will these screws/bolts the same size as the 4 that come with the H50??, if so I'll take 4 off your hands?

Would this be significantly better than a Zalman CNSP9700?

Tempted, but don't want to spend £60 unless it's a reasonable improvement over what I already have.

Just ordered one of these after umm'ing and arr'ing and waiting for other 1156 compatible air cooler packages to get to market. Just hope I don't get a buzzing one as it's a replacement for the stock Intel cooler which is making a right noise at the moment.

I take it the corsair fan can be removed and replaced? From the pictures, it looks like the fan's power cable is independent of the pump and hoses.

due to my temps being in 60's at the basic 2.66hz i remounted the h50 again and this time instead of the line method which may i say looked well spread out but not too much as to pour over the edges or the cpu and was a &$&$ to remove as it very thick (TIM Consultants 0098 - thicker than MX-3) i tried the rice grain method (with some MX-2 i had spare) and same temps at 2.66gz cores mid to low 30's at idle and late 50's to 60's primed so i dont know what else to do i tried it on the rear as exhaust and intake tho intake was worst as i have 2 285gtx pumping out heat and now i have it on the roof intaking and its air is being sucked out the rear via a 140mm and i found that exhasting was slightly worse as it was maybe sucking up the heat from the northbridge and other stuff in the middle section...(all push/pull will apaches).

anyway 1hr 35 mins in after i was priming the new remount my system shut down and i nearly cried :(

**bearing in mind there hasnt even been any major o/c at all except 4 days ago when i used the motherboard tool easytune6 and tried 3.0 and 3.2 and got temps in the 70'80'c mark which wasnt right when most get 4.0g with around 65-70'c so system was returned to default 2.66**

i found out after a trying different things to find the source of the problem that i had lost the first 2 dimm sockets :( they just failed so 6gb would now be detected as 4gb so my 12 is reduced to a crappy 8gb (crying) :(

i can truly say i have had a lot of bad luck with temps and see others with great temps....maybe i got a duff cpu that wont stay cool? or the board was on its way out and not working fully ...i dont know the answers but i can say that the auto kept giving it a 1.37v at 3.0-3.2 in easytune6 so whether thats normal i dont know

at least the memory isnt faulty:)

well this may be me finished for a while now :(:( (at least for the month untill funds are available :( ) ...... i dont think ill get this board again as the bios wasnt exactly user friendly in wording :D (wheres my diploma)

any advice gratfully taken tho i may just get a cheaper UD5 or P6T board

oh well maybe next month:D

signing off :( (on the main system that is :D still got laptop)
