Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

Well I have just fitted one and it wasn't as easy as the video showed.

I hadto take the motherboard out and mount the back plate, I had problems getting a couple of the screws to bite when securing the heatsink.

Anyway fired it up and what a racket, real high pitched eeeeeeeeeeeeh noise like a tiny electric motor going full pelt, after power on it went a tad quieter but still way to loud.

Temps were promissing, I have put an RMA request and said if they are all the noisy I dont want it but if it is faulty then a replacement will be fine.

I'd say you just got a bad one tbh, a lot of people (myself included) have commented that theirs is pretty quiet.

ive seen a few people complaining about difficulties installing them, ive now fitted 3 and there as easy as any normal heatsink that requires a backplate, infact ill go one futher and say it was easier than the tuniq tower extreme i recently tried

regarding the screws did you use the right ones for the right plugs? fitted mine in about 20 mins from starting to remove motherboard

Wierd I just plugged the pump into a molex using a 3 pin fan adaptor and it is now really quiet, just a gentle buzzing.

Previously it was plugged into one of the fan headers on my EX58-UD3R, I wonder if it was either trying push too much power through or the pump was struggling to pull the fluid through.

I will try installing it again tomorrow.

I was using the Noctua NH-U12P Dual Fan on my i7 CO.
And i was getting 66 68 69 68. 8 hours prime full load.
with 1.272v @ 181 x 21=3.8

Brought this Corsair H50-1. and the temp went up to 72 74 ish full load.
I even redone the paste 5 times. and also used MX-2 and silver5(not much in either paste really. zzzz
I thought it would have had lower temps then that.

I'm using a antec 1200 with standard case fan, and fan that comes with the Corsair H50-1. which is using a push and pull. that normal then, or could it be the fans ? try the Noctua fans maybe ?

Cheers.

Just bought a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 but kind of wish I got one of these instead, look like very nice coolers.

After so many tests. my Noctua NH-U12P SE2 was better.
Just make sure u seat the cooler right, other wise you're see bad temps LIKE I DID AT FIRST..
you got to trail and error before you put the paste on, so u know it's seated nice and flat. and make sure the bring screws go in with out having to force 1of the bring screw in. and the best thing i found when aplyin the paste.
Was to make a smal spread in a line. that's if you have an i7.

Guess this watercooler is good for some, but not others. i really thought it would knock at least 4% etc on load COMPARED to my Noctua.

Idle temps on my Q6600 were previously ~35°C at around 2.6Ghz, now it's running as below :D

What version of everest do you use? mine is the latest beta, and the temps are waaaay off. Abit IP35pro q6600, air cooled.

Sounds like you haven't got the pump "locked" into the teeth properly. I didn't notice first time I did it the teeth were not in their sockets, temps were very high like yours, then I notice I had not orientated the pump in properly, locked it in place then temps were fine.

Hi,
Checked all that like you said. but still the temp we're nothing amazing from my other cooler.

Cleaned it, applied AS5 again last night and reseated, now looking much better than my old Nero cooler temperature wise.

On reflection not a hard cooler to fit just a pain getting the mobo out of my case to fit the back plate.

It is nice and quiet now as well.

Diverse180 and Bulldog147 sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but yes those are the correct screws in the picture you added. I thought they looked big, but they fit perfectly.

Tony

There were 6 screws, for the cpu block and they all looked the same.

The instructions only refer to 4 screws for the block.

I recieved 8 screws for the CPU block with mine, 4 were a larger thread which I didn't notice until I tried to screw them in.

The pump does make a noticable screetch but as I normally always where headphones whilst sat at the computer I don't notice it.

Join the "thicko" club - that includes me!

For the pump I attached a small piece of sound deadening mat on the top circular cover

I need to remove my H50 tomorrow as I need to check my mobo cpu socket for bent pins. I've ordered some MX-3 paste but i'm not sure how much to put on, one pea sized amount in the middle? and wiggle the cooler before screwing down?

Please advise me.

id be inclined to put a pea sized amount in the middle and use a credit card or something similar and spread it evenly over the core others may say differently but thats the way ive always done it, you could always do it on the cpu block head as it would have come new too
