Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

lol, there is only room for 1 fan on the back im afraid which is an exhaust atm, but will be changing it to intake for the h50, thats where i should have purchased the 1200 with 2 fans on the back! gutted! the only thing is, my rear exhaust (which i will use as intake) is exhausting a lot more air than the big fan on the top, cause for concern when turning it around???

I have the original Antec 900, so it's pretty much the same as the 902. I just turned the 120mm fan around and stuck the rad on top (well I actually used the corsair fan but same difference).

Before installing the H50, I definitely noticed that more air came out of the 120mm than the 200mm. I think this is something to do with static pressure; because the 120mm is smaller and faster it has a naturally high static pressure despite having similar airflow, so the "path of least resistance" for exhaust was through the 120mm. This is just guesswork on my part, and I don't have the manual here with the pressure/rpm/cfm figures either.

Either way, with my H50 installed as you described, there is a lot more air coming out of the top 200mm fan. With the competition gone, the "big boy" has no problem taking over as main exhaust, and my airflow is just as good as it was before - motherboard temps have not been effected by the change at all.

CPU temps are awesome though, as I've posted somewhere around here before. Getting a max of 24 degrees under load from a stock X3 720.

I posted this in another thread but should have really posted it here.

I'm thinking about getting the H50 and here are my temps idle and after 10 mins prime95 on air:

idle
load

Got an i7 920 currently clocked at 3.8 GHz, Asus P6T Deluxe V1, 6 GB Corsair XMS3 RAM, XFX 5870, GSkill 128 GB SSD cooled by a Noctua NH-U12P in an Antec 1200 case.

Would I gain anything from getting the H50 or should I just stick to my current cooling?

Cheers

81c is a bit high for i3 @3.8 in a decent case. One of my mates has an i3 clocked to 4.2ghz and his temps hit mid 70s on load with an H50.

I would expect better than that for an I3 at 4.2GHz on a cooler this price.

I am using a lowly Coolermaster Hyper TX3 and can keep my temps under 70 with my I3 at 4.2GHz.

Was actually considering one of these til reading this, as I wanted to push for 4.4GHz, but guess I'll leave it.

I,ve just emailed him. I might be wrong with the clocks, could have been 4.5. Been a whilst since ive spoke to him

OK, that sounds better. But darn, I was really happy for a moment that the temptation to spend money had gone :( :D

Though I guess I should try and see what my current stuff is like at 4.4GHz before spending the money. Not really given it a proper go as it took like 1.4V and was worried about pushing the I3 that high.

I've decided to change my setup

at the moment it's exhausting push pull with 2 apache blacks. I will be replacing with a 1850rpm gentle typhoon in an intake setup (with a dust filter on the back) and using apache black as a top exhaust. Should get better temps this way due to higher static pressure

do i understand this correctly, its gona be like this now:

filter -> radiator -> fan -> case

?

My H50 arrived and it doesnt have the Corsair fan. Just a Noctua. He said he broke it and is refunding me £5. What would be a good 120mm fan to go in a push pull config? I was thinking something like a Antec tri speed or Scythe Kaze Jyuni if i can find one second hand for around £8

edit - doesnt matter, ordered a Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900rpm

If the H50 hoses were long enough to allow the rad to be mounted as an intake at the FRONT of a case it would be so perfect. Cool air in from floor-front, hot air raised and exhausted out top-back..

your a lifesaver, thankyou very much:):) the only thing im worried about is do the fans im going to have in push pull over the radiator have to be at identical rpm's?? or instead of push pull, would it be ok to just mount just the rad on the existing antec case fan and leave it at that?? sorry im a bit of a noob when it comes to watercooling. any kind of cooling for that matter lol.

Would it be ok to the H50 with a Noctua exhausting over the radiator, but with no fan on the back of the radiator?

Need to wait a couple of days for a new exhaust fan to be delivered. Cant be bothered moving fans around in my case now they are set up. Then after i will use push-pull

Cant the radiator be even mounted directly onto the back of the case?

I dont really know much, but what i do know is the H50 radiator performs much better as an intake and not exhaust. have you got any other fan exhausting on your case?? or is that the sole 1.
