Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

if it werent for that radeon 5870 in my case, i would have noticed the humming too

the pump seems to have a max of 1600rpm, and it also seems to give off quite abit of heat at those speeds, running it at max raises my cpu temperature by a degree or two

yesterday i had reconnected my fans, got a 3 pin extension cable... now the cpu fan is the radiator fan
ambient temperature (front of case) = 18 degrees, temperature at back of radiator = 23 degrees, bios cpu temperature = 33 degrees ...

opinions?

i should be getting the akasa citrus cleaner and my tube of AS5 today... but getting to the cpu cooler in my mATX case is quite a lot of trouble...

Ive tried B & Q, homebase and a few other local hardware shops but they didnt have those specific screws. Suppose I could use 2 on each fan if I cant get hold if them anywhere :o

I just use 2 on each

Fan hooked onto case with rubber things, 2 screws with rad onto fan, 2 screws with fan onto rad

seems the corsair H50 depends on the requirement of the user. a friend of mine used it to cool a core i7 980 and didnt find the same thing. i guess its coz his voltage was higher!

The screws are a common size carried by hobby stores.

Most DIY & hardware shops dont stock them beacuse its an imperial thread I was told. I didnt try any hobby stores.

Would it not be sensible for Corsair to maybe put 8 screws in the box ? Would have saved me a few hours and a few quid in petrol trying different shops locally.

I did see your earlier post thanks to another forum member pointing out.

Thanks for posting that infomation btw

I have ordered this H50 and it is arriving Monday with a new tube of AC5. I am curious though if anyone used the stock paste before using AC5 and might know if there a good enough improvement, because I really CBA cleaning the paste off the pump. I feel like I'm doing such a hatchet job with TIM cleaner and paper kitchen roll.

So if the stock paste is good I won't bother with AC5. I'm also not sure how much TIM cleaner I have left..

i am using 'no more screws' tape to hold the second fan to the radiator...
a question for you guys regarding temps, what is your cpu temp relative to your northbridge/southbridge/other temps on the mobo?

its abit tricky with my mobo regarding the temperatures... speedfan and the LCD poster give 2 entirely different sets of temps... speedfan reports 9 independent temperatures for the cpu , one for every virtual core Windows sees plus one which is simply called 'cpu'

and the LCD poster cpu temp reading seems to be coming off an off-cpu temperature sensor, it lags behind cpu activity... i trust the speedfan readings more because they go up instantly the moment i launch something cpu-intensive

but anyway, with speedfan and with the lcd poster, i find that the load temps of the cpu is roughly equivalent to the northbridge and southbridge temps on my mobo... the low 60's ...
