Corsair Hydro H50, 60 or 70...

Following on from this thread and the difficulties of getting the air cooling that I want to fit with my Vengeance RAM, I'm considering watercooling my i7-2600k instead.

I've read some reviews and comparisons and, given that I won't be going for an extreme overclock (around 4GHz), would the Corsair Hydro H50 be enough or should I get the newer H60? Or even the dual-fan H70?

The Corsair range seems very cheap in comparison to kits like the ones from EK and I don't want to have to buy twice.

Cheers.

The H50 will be more than adequate/capable for a 2600K @ 4GHz (even the stock cooler could cope with that.).

If you don't intend on increasing your clock by much (i.e. keeping below 4.5GHz) - then the H50 is the cheapest and, for your clock, a sound choice when not considering air.

The h60 has the added benefit of the extra fan - but you wouldn't really need the additional cooling unless you wanted to run things silently e.g. both fans at 50%.

This forum is the business. :D

I thought the stock cooler would probably be able to manage but the noise of the stupid thing is really irritating me. I can hear it over the 590 and the PSU...

H50 sounds like just what I need.

Thanks. :D

I go with the Antec 620 to be honest, heard it's slightly better and my H50 (Which I'm currently flogging) made an annoying buzzing noise due to the pump.

True, the 620 is marginally better - and if you can't get the H50 for £39 (OcUK were doing an offer) then the 620 would make sense as it would be cheaper than the H50 at its advertised price.

I can't see the deals in the forum advert link (top right) - but if OcUK are still running the H50 promotion for £39 i, personally, would buy that as there would be liitle to no difference in performance with your clock/usage.

EDIT: the code you for the promo (if it's still running) is/was - h50promo

Can't be used, Plec.

Thanks - can't see the advert link on this computer.

Then as above the 620 is the cheaper and slightly more efficient option.

However, if you've bought the H50 already, don't worry, as it's tried and tested plus Corsair have 'seem' to have a great refund policy, on damaged parts, if the cooler was to leak...

I have no idea what Antec's is like(?)..

H50 is fine, i ran one on a 2600k but it couldnt handle 4.8 with 2 fans, 1 fan no chance. If your sub 4.4 i would say you should be ok but personally i would go silver arrow for anything higher.

H60 Is more aesthetically pleasing and has a more efficent pump setup.

H50 is the cheapest.

H70 has a thicker rad than the H60 and H50 and comes with two 4-pin fans.

The little bit more for the H60 is worth it as its a lot less prone to breaking and weird noises than the H50, which was the market first, and oldest.

To note, the H60 is also the newer one out of the 3 choices, with the brand new H80 and H100 being the latest in the series of coolers.

Whatever you get though from corsair, you might wanna put some extra cash into getting a better (quieter) fan for it as the one that came with my H60 did my head in after 48 hours.

Thanks for all the replies. :)

I've had a look at the H80 and I think it would be OTT for my setup.

I think I'll order either the H50 or H60 this week.

I've just noticed that some of the watercooling kits (the H60 for example) appear in the CPU cooler section of OCUK but not in the watercooling section.

Just ordered the H60. Due for delivery tomorrow. :)

Read some more reviews and the H60 seems to be just as good at cooling as the H50 but a fair bit quieter.

Its a nice piece of kit and you can make it silent and still perform extremely well by adding a akasa apache black fan to it (which is what I did)

If you ordered form OcUK with the additional fan you could run it quieter still - by reducuing the max fans speed (certainly at idle).

As the two fans will cool more efficiently than just the one fan; and as you will be running a minor clock - you could limit the fans max rpm (thus noise) and still sufficiently cool your CPU.

It's why i bought the Silver Arrow - as i've set them to run at 50% speed even at full load (as it keeps things under 55degrees still) - so silence (bliss).

How loud is the SA at 100% on one fan and say 50% on the other? I only have 1 4 pin header on my board I think :(.
