Cost of Living - Shrinkflation is speeding up at an alarming rate

Noticed Morissons now only have one cranberry sauce for xmas this year, and ts about a 1/3 of the size as the one they sold last year at about 20% higher price.

I've mentioned it before, but we're getting royally shafted with both product shrinkage and price increases at the same time.

Bleach, I've just finished a 2 litre pack from a couple of years ago that cost me 79p. Same manufacturer, bought a replacement today, now 750ml at a cost of 99p.

Iceland mature cheese, pre-covid was £5 for 1.2Kg, now 830g for £6.

Just relentless.

Got caught out on this finally. I monitor calorie intake so weigh food, a bag of uncle bens tomato and basil is 250grams so it does me for two meals - simple split.

Weigh out 125gram which is what I think is half the bag, notice the remaining rice feels a bit light, maybe I took too much out, nope - they reduced it to 220gram per pack.

Well you'll lose weight quicker! Silver lining and all that... :p

Critical mass has been reached.

The once fabled rich tea biscuit was such you had to dunk a portion of the nibble then proceed to do a full dunk.

They have only gone and reduced the bloody diameter of the biscuit by a significant margin. So you can now go straight to full dunk WTF !

******** ********

I tell this has opened up a new market for some new style dragons den biscuit maker.... Proper sized biscuits !!

It's fine, just buy smaller cups.

Too much skimping on ingredients now too. I’ve had a lot of supermarket foods that don’t taste as good as they used to. A scan around the online reviews shows numerous examples of products getting 5 stars a year or so ago, but are now getting 1 star because they’ve changed for the worse.

beware of anything in a supermarket that’s says new and improved recipe. It never is. Fray bentos tried it recently by reducing their pies meat content. It caused such an uproar that thry changed back to the old recipe within 3 months.

Young lad bought me a bar of Dairy Milk the other eve... plan view it's thes same size, but it's about half as thick as it used to be.

Does anyone know if this shrinkflation effect is taken into account for the inflation figures that they quote on the news ?
