council housing application they sent me an email they did not mean to send

I've asked this before and you ignored me, I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. Do you mind me asking what disabilities your children have (maybe you did mind and that's why you didn't answer!)? I only ask because I have a family member who deals with HA housing, it's already stretched beyond breaking point, and there are varying levels of disability that require very specific housing requirements. It could be the case that they just don't have anything available, or the level of disability doesn't make it top priority. They won't be purposely denying you housing for valid requests. Using an accidentally sent email as leverage to get what you want and potentially deny someone else housing who may require it more seems a little selfish.

they are DLA i understand they are stretched of cause i do just wanted a fair crack at it and we have sent specialist reports everything the HA has asked for.

Dominic Raab. I wrote to him about an issue and the response was slow, and didn't answer my question when it did arrive.
 
If Jaqui dies, maybe you can have her house ?

No, best of luck OP, that email response is out of order, and you know it. No, it won't get you a house if you're not entitled to it, but it might be enough to push you up the list if you are entitled to it and they're just stalling.

Fairness to Raab'o - he was on a lilo a mile out when he read it thinking the envelope was a large dividend. Obviously disappointing so he instructed his secretary to fob you off.

The email is unprofessional IMO.. And definitely worth an apology, but not sure it carries any real weight, I guess if you complain enough it might help.

On the whole subject, have you tried CAB?

If you have a disabled child:
You're allowed an extra bedroom if your child is disabled and can't share a bedroom with another child because of their disability. You're also allowed an extra bedroom if your child is disabled and needs regular overnight care from a carer who doesn't live with you. You must meet the following conditions:
  • your disabled child must be entitled to the middle or higher rate care component of Disability Living Allowance
  • your local council must accept that your child’s disability means they can’t share a bedroom with another child

Assuming your Children are claiming Middle or Higher Rate DLA then it does seem it's still up to the council to accept your specialists reasoning, this may well be the sticking point, remember that 'specialists' will recommend all sorts to anyone, that does not mean their is an automatic right.

Or if you aren't claiming the middle/higher rate then perhaps as sad as it may seem, you simply don't qualify.

I know councils/social housing struggles under the normal reasons for more bedrooms:

DLA is a bit too vague it covers all manner of disabilities. You may not feel comfortable talking about it, but remember, a lot of us have disabled children or disabled family members, it's more common than most people realise.

If the OP is on a list he'll be on it in order of need. If the council bumped him to a higher position because of the e-mail they'd be in breach of their duty. Those leapfrogged by the OP would have a far better cause of action against the council than the OP does for the e-mail.

still a massive mistake on their part i wonder how many others have had the same treatment from C and J.
 
If your council's policies are the same as those @Demon posted then a three bedroom house would be discretionary and "you should not rely on the Council’s Housing Needs Register to assist with rehousing quickly or in emergencies."

That's why I suggested a face to face meeting. Removes any misconstruals (is that a word?) in communication.

Anyway, there’s nothing lost in pursuing.. It could be a wider issue of negligence in a department for all we know.

Im unfamiliar with housing and disability issues so I sympathise with any of you who have to deal with the system.

teenwolf, Worthy has asked you twice and you've avoided saying twice, What is it specifically that your children are on DLA for?

6 pages and no one knows what's wrong with the children and he won't say? sniff sniff.

How can we advise without knowing he's actually at it with the council?

The thread is like watching one of those karen vids on facebook though, we're informed half way int the situation and know nothing much else but try to comment as all knowing and experts lol...
teenwolf tell us more so as we can advise you better mate.

Because the detail is not required to give advice. This thread is about the email he was sent and the conduct of the staff. This has no bearing on the outcome of his case so the details are irrelevant.

If he did post the detail, the thread would immediately turn into a load of people giving their opinion of whether they think he should be entitled to the house or not.
