council housing application they sent me an email they did not mean to send

I don't personally think "going for Karen" is warranted though tbh. Depends how they respond. It again hinges for me on if the email you sent to them is attached.

I have worked in the civil service and in this day and age this is a big thing.
It is a Data Protection breach right off the bat it is a fine it brings questions on department heads it is a breach.
Then the context can be inferred in almost any way you like.
It causes a cascade of questions about how that department is being managed and run.
You can request from them a complete dump of all your records and data held. Might still be a 10 or 20 quid fee and you can even argue that you need to see everything they have as they may have breached more of your personal data.
You can be a pure dick about this and law is on your side.
However the law to cover their backs is huge.
And you will not get millions in compo so most lawyers would be meh and cost more than it is worth.
But you can still cause a total shitnami internally.
You can file I believe a report to the police as well.
The fact Christine called is because if this blows up enough that "LOL" could cost her her job in this day and age.
You can meet with your MP and ask your MP for an explanation on how this housing department is being run and how it is treating people with a "LOL".
As well as if this is standard for families with disabled children, is this routine? Talk to the news the radio anyone that will listen.
How is it a data protection breach when all they've sent to the OP is an attached e-mail he sent to them?

[..]
i find it very unprofessional it seems us and our disbaled children are a bit of a laughing stock to them

email i received.

Hi Jacqui,

See email…now take a deep breath LOL x

Christine

thoughts ?

"take a deep breath" usually means "this text contains long sentences and few commas" or "this is a long piece of text" or something along those lines. It's a comment on writing style. I think your interpretation is odd and extreme, although it makes sense if you intend to use that interpretation as a weapon in a publicity war. In that case, neither intentions nor truth nor anything else matters, only who can stir up the most outrage.

He has been included in an internal email accidentally. Unprofessionally. His data has been mishandled. And fortunately he got it but evidently anyone else could have been mistyped or mistook onto it.
Its a Data Protection Fault. And how else can you tell? They called him!!! Because they know! It is a Data breach. Also may I add his internal email has been sent externally fortunately to him. But still a data breach. Also it contains the internal comments on it. So yep have a very boring read on Data Protection in the civil service it is very comprehensive.

Also the data includes email details of other employees that are probably not public. And then furthermore if the phonecall explained that a staff member is in hospital with issues that is then another privacy breach of a civil servant being used as an excuse!

You're the expert. Please direct me to the specific section of the legislation stating that sending him his own data is a data breach.

None of that would be a breach of the OP's data.

Lols please do the work yourself
I am not sure you get it. It is not his own data. It is an internal email. That he has been mistakenly included in probably from a simply click forward action. So that internal transaction has included an external source regardless it being his own data.
And my second point was the breach of a staff members personal condition over a phonecall.
I am not an expert. I have received a warning myself some years ago in the civil service as I made a mistake causing a data breach myself.
In the vast legislation of Data Protection I do not think there is a specific section that governs if Teenwolf is sent Teenwolfs data.
But I am amused you assume that if your data is sent to you by accident but copied in to other staff that is fine.
Remember regardless of it being his own data it was sent by MISTAKE.

No one else have fun at work? Just me and this admin?
They are humans not faceless machines.
It was a mistake.

Use it to your advantage though :p
Play that outraged flabaghast card.

No, no it isn't a Data Protection breach at all.

Back to the OP.........................

There are a lot of young and naive people posting here assuming they know how the world works, unfortunately some of it isn't how the real world works, it isn't all rainbows and unicorns where we all look out for each other, nor is everyone treated fairly - sadly :(

Your case will be one of many and with pen pushers who are overstretched, you become just another number. (Un)fortunately, some would take advantage of this situation to further their aim, as you know the world is now about looking after number one even at the expense of others.

You could escalate this, her supervisor, local press and your MP, you have provided evidence, this has been going on for years, you feel you are being treated inhumanely and you and your disabled children are suffering and now this email - the council are not taking your claim seriously, you have been diagnosed with PTSD, anti-depressants and are suicidal, children suffering, stress on marriage, unable to sleep, work and homelife are suffering etc etc etc insert comp face photo (tongue in cheek for last comment, unless true!!)

You genuinely may not be eligible, but when councils. MP's come under media scrutiny, you will be surprised how quickly they will promise "a full review of the inappropriate email and a swift, full review of the application will be undertaken. We have fallen short of our usual standards, blah blah blah". Not saying you will get your house, but it will light a fire into your application and maybe in your favour. You are getting nowhere doing it the correct way, so nothing to lose really.

It's wrong, everyone should be treated equally, but that isn't the reality. Raise your complaint, it's for your family's health and happiness.

I didn't think you'd be able to back up your claim and your new hypothetical (highlighted) is an entirely different situation.

Think this reply says it all she messed up and knew what she said and then called me trying to say jacqui is in hospital on deaths door to which I put the phone down.

I can’t help that my children are disabled but it seems like that email I received some people are in the wrong jobs.

Just trying my best for our children but I feel terrible and read that they don’t give a ……

Having a think about it, i'd actually be quite angry about this.

You are trying to get a house which would be life changing for you, she is treating your case as a joke, so much so she has passed it to a colleague to also have a laugh at.

But, what really has wound be up (triggered!!) she has messed up and now the shoe is on the other foot, is trying to pull on your heart strings by saying "Jacqui is in hospital on death's door", hoping you won't take it any further.

Why is she emailing work stuff if Jacqui really is this close to death in the first place? What could Jacqui actually do?! By telling you this, she is hoping you won't pursue a complaint against her. Nah, she literally has the power to turn people's lives around and she is using your situation for a cheap laugh - now she has been caught out, she is in damage limitation mode to save her own ass.

People make mistakes, but she tried to make it go away by using her dying mate as an excuse - that's horrible! Afraid this is her own doing and she needs to reap what she sows. Wonder if Jacqui knows what she has said about her?

This is a poor take on things imo.

I'm enjoying thinking about her having that sinking stomach feeling when she realised what she has done - never send an email you wouldn't want to see used in a disciplinary!

this has been going on for about 12 months now we have 2 disabled children and been sending all evidence of the childrens DLA trying to get a council house.
back and too uploading evidence to support why we need a 3 bedroom house as our children cannot share a room and has been documented by specialists to support this.

they sent an email earlier declining us any housing and going over the same old excuses please show us evidence too which i appealed to the housing officer as per the email to challenge the decision.

now i just got an email which was obviously sent in error to me from the secratary that should have gone to the housing manager.
i find it very unprofessional it seems us and our disbaled children are a bit of a laughing stock to them

email i received.

Hi Jacqui,

How is this a data protection breach? The OP would have had his own documentation and replies sent back to him. It would have been a breach had that been someone else's case.
