Couple of Corolla T-Sport questions!

Look, I fail to see what is wrong with putting down a deposit on a 10 year old grey Toyota which I haven't seen yet, which has hardly any MOT, a broken drivers seat, and has been owned by a woman who knows nothing about cars!

Nothing can possibly go wrong. It is the perfect situation! :p

Did I mention that it is currently SORN and yet she is happy to take me out for a drive? :D

It also has lots of recent service history documents missing, and the owner has relaxed a bit and her emails read like she is off a rough council estate. (she isn't) - though I've never read "aint" in an email before. Thats new! :p

That is correct. Though I feel that the statement is more amusing if you point out that it is a 10 year old grey Toyota, like I did. :)

Also it isn't a "warm" hatch, it is a hot hatch. You can't decide to call it "warm" because you don't like it. Unless you also think the Civic Type R, Focus ST, Golf GTI etc are "warm"?

They can do 0 - 60 in under 7 seconds if you try for it. :)

The handling is a bit below par though I grant you. Suspension modifications would be applied in a few months time if I get it. :)

Just to demonstrate that I'm not rushing in without first asking a lot of questions... (these are the replies from her :p)

It will also be thoroughly looked over, I will hopefully speak with the person who serviced it on the phone, and I will get a check done on the car tomorrow.

Those are the messages from her by the way - in some cases she sent a couple of replies to a single one of my emails etc, and that is over the course of about a week. :p

Wow, why didn't you just.. phone her up?!

It is easier to do it like this, I can ask a question as I think of it, and it doesn't matter where I am or what I'm doing. A lot of that was when I was at work.

did u ask her why she's trying to flog it with 2 months MOT left and not putting 12 months on it for u  its the least she could do after u gave her £100 to remove the listing that nobody touched with a barge pole even at a cheap price.

I doubt she really thought about it to be honest. As someone above said, it would fail with a jammed drivers seat anyway no?

She has said a few times that she doesn't really understand cars and has gone off asking the person who does the servicing for her most of the time when I ask her something... :p

And how many times should it have been done in 3 years?

Twice should be OK for 3 years/17K miles I believe.

Note how I said "at least once" though. It might have been done more than once. It was last done about 2 months ago apparently.

Its just an easy way to describe it, I tend to say "coming onto cam" and "coming off of cam" which doesn't make sense either, because the cam is always spinning and it is just switching to different lifters, or whatever... :p

It has been a while since I have been this nervous and excited about anything... I hope it is alright...

I also hope that if it is alright, that I'll be able to sort the seat out, otherwise driving it home could be challenging. :p

Guys, I don't know what tyres are currently fitted to the car (only that they are all legal and that two of them were replaced a few months ago) - but I will have a close look at them of course.

Are tyres with an incorrect speed rating illegal? Or, are they going to invalidate insurance? I believe the 'rolla should have V rated tyres, but if it has been owned by someone who isn't a car person, it might have ended up with lower speed rating tyres on it.

I plan on getting a set of new tyres anyway, but if the currently fitted ones are illegal/insurance invalidating, then I could use that as a bargaining chip.

But it would be more convenient for me to do it by bank transfer, so theres nothing wrong with it right..?

There would be a record of the payment for one, which is nice. Also, I already have her bank details and I know it works cos thats how I sent the £100.
