Couple of Corolla T-Sport questions!

Home!! Mechanical condition seems fine (I even slid underneath it and checked the exhaust and driveshafts and things.)

There were a few cosmetic niggles, and the tyres are hilarious. £1676 paid! :D

On my drive with Ryan11711 and his Coupé, Polo in the background. :)

On the subject of the tyres, there are two Goodyears on the back, one which is a normal tyre, one which is a runflat, on the front there is a budget tyre on one side and a winter tyre on the other side, they are all the wrong size, and they have multiple different speed ratings, none of which are the correct one! :p

New tyres already ordered.

This forum will never be the same without Acme Polo antics! :(

How did you get it for such an odd price, is it the last 4 digits of your phone number or something? :p

Congrats though man, I hope you have fun in it and that it serves you well!

There was some haggling going on, and it ended with splitting the £25 between £1700 and £1650 (it was all in good spirits, we were both chucking as we were haggling :p) and then I added a pound because she filled up my water bottle for me. :p

She also found the original T-Sport mats and chucked those in. The spare wheel is mint and has a brand new Michelin on it (in the correct spec!) and it has the Toyota jack, and locking wheel bolts in the little box, everything!

Thoroughly enjoyed the drive home. :D

Service parts ordered too. Just need to order some wipers, number plates, and window seals, then book an MOT, and fix whatever is broken. ;)

Thanks guys! It isn't a brilliant example, but it is tidy, and mechanically sound - which is the important thing!

It has a few stone chips and small scratches here and there, and a little scab of rust on the roof, but that will get sorted out fairly soon (the rust at least) - The interior has a few niggles too, like obviously the drivers seat adjustment (which I'll be fixing tomorrow), a broken slat in a vent, little scratches on bits of plastic, but all cheap cheap to sort out, so I'm not worried about that.

The only other things are the tints which will have to come out at some point, the tyres, and the rubber seals around the window (I will order some!)

The tyres I have ordered are Falken Ziex ZE914's. I was originally going to get some Uniroyal Rainsport 3's but the Falkens are apparently better, so I thought I'd give them a go. You can't really get "performance" tyres in this size, they are all the "normal" economy tyres etc. They are V rated though. Also have a load of Bosch filters, aero wipers, and stuff on the way. Oh and love them or hate them, some wind deflectors. :)

It will take a long time for the kick of acceleration to get old. It is quite something going from a Polo to this, and yet it feels very natural to drive. I have taken to it very quickly!

There is some very disconcerting juddering when you pass... some... MPH, which I assume is down to the dire tyre situation, will report back once I have had new tyres fitted, and had the tracking and alignment etc sorted! :)

Number plates ordered! Standard font, standard spacing, no logos or lines or sub texts or company branding. Just number plates. :p

Best stuff to affix them with? I was going to avoid screws this time to make it look a bit sleeker.

Fixed the seat today with a bit of help from Dad! Made a new seat pin for it. :)

And cleaned the pollen filter so that the A/C works better until the new one arrives. The A/C works like a dream now! :)

Look at the state of this!!!
There were feathers in it, as well as leaves! :p

Filled it up with Momentum 99 as well. :) I have been averaging about 25MPG because of my occasional spirited bursts... :o

Another query I have for those of you who have previously owned these - is there any way to display the MPG if I remove the original radio? Perhaps a bluetooth OBD thingy and an app on a head-unit?

Can you also buy converters which will allow at least the steering wheel volume controls to work? :)

wow I never managed that low in mine lol, was always around 28-30mpg.

Lets just say that I have been really enjoying it after so long in the Slowlo. On every little straight stretch I can't help but give it a short little burst. Plus I have been out for drives with a couple of people, so there have been some acceleration bursts for their benefit. :)

I went for a mixed B road/A road drive earlier (about 25 miles) and averaged 32MPG though. :)

The economy improved after I balanced out the tyre pressures. I'm hoping it will improve again when I have some decent matched tyres fitted.

Exactly what the one in my E39 had and it was absolutely excellent for the task - being a dedicated Satnav/Radio not a pointless over specified gimmicky toy.

Once the novelty of having Android and 400,000 pointless apps on your dashboard wears off you'll just want radio, music and Satnav that just 'works'.

OK so, how was it to use? :) Speedy? Any crashes? Startup time? (the head unit not the E39 :p)

It is up for 140 on there i just linked the first one but it will look oem and fit perfectly and do everything you want it to do. After market double din looks a bit odd on the e12

I can't see one for 140? :(

A few observations for the day!

The fuel gauge is pretty useless, it has gone down to about half way after 80 miles. If I am getting the 29~ MPG average that the computer suggests, then I should get 350 miles out of the tank.

The currently fitted tyres are beyond ridiculously bad on damp roads, they can break grip in first, second, and third if you put your hoof down on a straight road... Need those new tyres fitted asap!

The clutch slave cylinder is squeaky, which is apparently a very common issue. Will get that looked at. :)

There appear to be markers on the head unit for "navigation" and "re-route" and such, but as far as I can see there is no navigation functionality?

Oh and I left a cocky sod in a barry'd E46 (323i maybe?) standing, which was good fun. He was at the lights revving his engine next to me while I was just sitting there waiting, so I thought "I'll have you mate!" - bet that surprised him! :D

On a private road of course. :o

Oh sorry, I was wondering if that one was different as the interface looks worse in the images, and the button layout is very very slightly different? :)

And thanks Stormster, I'll try my best to be a bit careful... The BMW encounter was at about 11PM on an empty dual carriageway though. :)

Corolla fuel gauge behaves exactly as you describe

That makes me feel a bit better. For a moment I thought I had somehow used three quarters of a tank incredibly quickly... :p

Just topped up and put 37 litres in, which suggests that the final "quarter" is around 18 litres. Will see how many miles I do until the fuel light, and compare with what the fuel computer says to see how accurate it is. :)

Fuel computer is showing an average of 29MPG since I picked it up now.
