Covers better than originals

Maybe not better because the original is so brilliant, but a worthy effort, and a genuinely great cover imo-

I also really like The Foo Fighters- Band on The Run as well.

U2 - One. I much prefer Johnny Cash's version.

I prefer Stuck in the Metal with You by Eagles of Death Metal to Stuck in the Middle with You.

On the flipside I hate that Winehouse's version of Valerie is now the only one you ever hear.

Similar: Not Over Yet by the Klaxxons....why?

Johnny Cash - Hurt and I love the NIN version but Johnny owned the song after the cover.

Definitely! Good call.

Another one i think is Nirvana's version of The Man Who Sold The World.

Much better than David Bowie's

Edit: Just noticed somebody else has already posted it :p

Not the best cover ever or anything, but I have a lot of time for Dandy Warhol's cover of Little Drummer Boy (despite having to live with the guy opposite me in our halls of residence playing it on repeat for months when I was a student)

I'll bring this one out again......... even though I love the original too

Song to the Siren

Dear Prudence

I Heard it Through the Grapevine

Top call .... the Shatner is a master :) I pee myself laughing at some of the stuff he comes up with .

So great stuff here, I'm chip in The Pet Shop Boys version of Always On my Mind. I just love the contrast with the original, so different.

I will also add New England by Kirsty McColl, because you can't have a thread like this without someone mentioning it.

I had not heard this before today
Jamie Cullum doing Radiohead's 'High and Dry'
Quite different, not better than the original however.

Pearl Jam cover The WHO's 'Baba O'Reilly'
