Covers better than originals

I knew for a fact Hurt was going to be in here, even though the original and cover are awful.

All Along the Watchtower (Jimi) is probably my favourite today, though it does vary wildly. Tip of the hat to Tainted Love (Soft Cell); Nothing Compares 2U (Sinead O'Connor); Comfortably Numb (Scissor Sisters, who would've thought you could manage to make a PF track listenable?!); Mr Tambourine Man (The Byrds) and With a Little Help from my Friends (Joe Cocker).

One of my favourites - Anni B Sweet's version of Take on Me by A-Ha


I'm not sure if it's better, but the Killers version of Romeo & Juliet by Dire Straits is a great cover.



And for something completely different - Ayo Technology by Milow: I had no idea that it originally by 50 cent. Bit of an improvement in my eyes...



And of course, I have to mention the best ever cover of Poker Face :D:D

 
I will probably get shot down for this: Joy Division "Love Will Tear Us Apart" was the original...


However, I heard a cover version by Paul Young first time round. 4 of his tracks/covers were bundled on Nik Kershaw's album "Human Racing". Dad played the album frequently, and that was the version that settled down as my fave.

Horses for Courses but man seriously the Scissor Sisters? Man that sucked ass :) And I so dislike Sinead :)

Please bear in mind that this thread is not about covers you love, or even like, just ones that are improvements on the originals.

I agree that Comfortably Numb by the Scissor Sisters was a poor song, but it is a far better song than the original.

You are completely right man :) I was just pointing out your dislike for Hurt then mentioning them 2 :)
