COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

No - nothing.

Dont even have to isolate when positive if you dont want to - its just this thread is a bit skewed to the more overly cautious shall we say.
Or people that don't want get a disease that we are increasingly aware has the potential to cause long term problems.

Personally I'm still masking up whenever I go in a store etc*, and was very happy to see that the opticians I went to was requiring everyone including staff to wear a mask (the only exception being if you were trying on glasses and the mask got in the way, in which case mask down for a the test fitting then back up).

*I've not really stopped, the only exception was the last donny do, which was during a lowish point in infections and IIRC when most people had had the first if not second jab.

When I was away last week, saw just one person wearing a mask. Here, it’s about 10%.

Think this will reduce next few days as mask wearing is going to v uncomfortable

Got to be honest I have been a touch complacent recently - I've a few times been put in a position, through no fault of my own, in recent weeks where the chances of contracting the disease should have been close to 100% and so far nothing.

Ironically I took 2 weeks off as it was getting bad with it at work to try and avoid it and due to car troubles spent most days potentially more exposed to it than if I'd been at work due to having to visit garages, etc. :(

I spent Monday-Wednesday in a busy car dealership for several hours as well so that'll be interesting to see the outcome of - potentially won't know until Sunday/Monday :(

You are already dead, mate.

Be surprised if anyone hasn't had it by Autumn, everyone seems to be getting it at the moment.

Do the antibody tests have a timescale? Or if you've had it even 2 years ago it'll show up on the tests? I did one of the antibody tests when delta was around but would a test now still show it up?

Other than doing one of those lft things (which I do before going into the office, but they give you a handful when you're there) is there any way of knowing if you've had it or have it?

That's why I'm interested in those antibody tests, can they tell what variants you've had? I'm sure I must have had it just through exposure but am one of these lucky people that are completely asymptomatic - but that sucks as it means I could spread it without realising - but I don't want to test daily as it's a faff and would end up costing a fair bit since I'm out and about every day.

I'm not mentally ill

Have you even read the tripe you linked? Many of the sources are circular, basically citing one another as evidence. I cannot find quite a number of the so-called studies listed. Others are not talking about the masks being ineffective at preventing COVID transmission (look at just how many pre-date 2020 for a start) but are talking about negative impacts of mask use such as it being harder to understand people.

Labour, Conservatives, Liberals, Green etc are al la bunch of criminals and adults fall for it over and over.
I don't agree, they are nowhere near as bad as each other and we've never seen the likes of Johnson's government before, his is particularly bad even for a Tory one.

As far as I can tell we seem to be stuck in this nightmare under the Tories unless and until we get the miracle of a universal vaccine or a nasal sterilising vaccine (that stops transmission 100%). I don't like relying on miracles.

I dread this winter as we are at the previous peak of infections at the height of summer with close to 1 in 15 people infected vs around 1 in 500 to 1 in 1000 this time last year which shows how much more infectious Omicron and in particular BA5 is and how foolish not putting any mitigations in place has been, such as improved ventilation.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get up to 1 in 5 people infected this winter and in my opinion at this level the NHS could face total collapse.

I think we all should, don't let this government of criminals get away with it.
UK is average for deaths in Europe - given the public have made it clear they don’t want to pay the Covid debt back I don’t see what else the UK could have done without making more debt.

What do you intend to do with your crying and rage?

What do you even mean by that though?

Does that include the Labour and SNP governments in Wales and Scotland too?

AFAIK they were all generally useless, the vast majority of politicians and pundits managed to get the initial response wrong but I'm not sure what about that is necessarily criminal or what you expect to be done about it now?
