COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Been to the dentists. Still ask you to wait outside, or in your car if bad weather (those who walked or bused it - tough). Receptionist either opens the door to call your name or ring you (if in car) when dentist is ready to see you. They dropped the covid questionnaire which was sent in a link on e-mail or text about a year ago.

Other than that, my dentists remains the same. Some of my friends and family's dentists only see patients in an emergency - no check ups.

TBH I question a lot of people's intelligence when it comes to the vaccines :s not just antivaxxers. The amount of flack I've got on these forums and elsewhere for suggesting things, which were pretty evident to anyone who was paying attention, which have since become acknowledged fact ( for instance on transmission https://www.bmj.com/content/376/bmj.o298 ) but at the time were off the official message, was incredible.

I do get that there is a careful line with regard to not discouraging vaccine uptake but still.

(For instance compare my quoted comment here to the accepted reality now and the reply I got to it LOL)

Yup, the amount of people that just see polarised black or white on numerous subjects now a days is amazing. I’m sure it didn’t used to be like this.

Most subjects have a nuance to them, covid vaccines are no different.

Mine seems to be back to normal with a couple of idiots still non covered coughing in the waiting rooms.

Body/head pains have all but gone as has my runny nose. Throat is still a trainwreck that has resulted in me having hardly any sleep for two days and I have a cough as a result of the oversensitive throat.

Woke up this morning. Had a large glass of water and fired up the bean to cup coffee machine....couldn't smell the coffee and could just about taste it  I'd completely forgotten about the randomness of losing your senses!

Heading to France tomorrow with the family. Been paranoid for weeks about getting infected prior to travel.

Thought I'd dodged it, got a text about an hour ago to say a woman in the office is positive... so very, very angry.

Presumably you went on your holiday so did in fact "dodge it" ?

Not here no masks amongst patients nor the receptionist waiting area stuffed full of people the door wedged open only because it was a warm day. Dentist even told me to take mine off because she couldn't hear me talk properly... I mean I would have done it anyway or she couldn't look in my gob but I'd only just got in the door.

Had more visits lately than in the last couple of years and have another in a week or two

Still have to fill a form in at my dentists, masks aren't mandatory in the waiting room though. Saying that the receptionists are wearing them and the dentists and hygienists are fully kitted up with aprons, gloves, masks and faceshields. I continue to follow the medical communities example, rather than some random in the waiting room.

Have to wear mask from entrance to dentist chair and vice versa when leaving. Probably worn my mask for about 2 mins in total.

You know I wish I had stubornly worn mine in the waiting room but I dont for the life of me know why I didnt. It was fine until some guy came in and did a couple of coughs and I thought oh for **** sake but he probably thought oh bloody hell I havent coughed in months and now...

He did look embarrassed.

I did despite everyone especially the kids looking at me like a martian had landed. I really want to get all the remaining treatment out of the way before winter when the place will be sealed up tighter than a drum against the cold and the waiting room is full of people coughing and spluttering over everything/everyone.

Yeah, COVID did seem to change a lot of people's attitudes and make them generally less acceptable humans..
It changed people's attitudes to make them less accepting of other humans.

I've started thinking back to when this all started and how we had key workers. Key workers were effectively low paid workers who helped support our need to maintain steady delivery's picked and packed by amazon.

Not quite sure how essential buying some cheap tat was but I suppose it made us feel better.

We can all live by established new normal but people should be able to question it without being seen as unintelligent or a conspiracy theorist.

One thing this last few years has made clear is that people aren't really open to any opinions that differ from their own. They prefer to just shut down any opposing view.
