COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Isn't this obvious, though? The virus is surging again. Of course there are going to be more people in hospital "with" it.

The point is that it's become much more transmissible but clearly less dangerous.

Natural immunity (I'm currently topping up my own) and immunisations mean that we're in a position to "move on" to the next stage in the UK.

People are learning to get on with life and applying their own personal measures where and if they see fit. This is the natural progression.

I can't see the point of this thread other than people posting about having their 5th, 6th, 7th etc boosters getting worked up about imaginary people becoming complacent.

Excuse me, this thread isn't the place for rational thought. Here, we try to ensure the fear is maintained. by either meticulously selecting and highlighting doomsday statistics so that we can extrapolate the findings; or, we rely on personal anecdotes of misery. We must also lash out at large swathes of the population.

Well after 2 years dodging the virus I've finally caught Covid. I'm triple jabbed but have underlying health issues and am overweight. So I'm a touch worried but it's 5 days since I've shown symptoms and it's been no more than an annoying cold, the worse thing is my running nose and now my nose is sore from all the blowing into loo roll. Hopefully that's it for me and I recover soon

No one is following the restrictions here though. As soon as England relaxed, so did the population at large here in Scotland.

Seems daft to have them then if you're not following them?

Lots of people in/out of work seem to have had BA.2 now - most of them have said it's a little worse than the previous covid infection they had, but not as bad as flu.

Do you both go onto Golfing forums just to post that you hate golf? :D

Those golf guys sure better shut up!

Amazing isn't it, no interest in the subject, it doesn't concern them, yet here they are wanting the thread closed.
There are plenty of other threads on the forum, nobody HAS to click on the one called 'covid...'

I didn't say I wanted this thread closed. I did say a while ago that I thought an entire sub-forum dedicated to COVID was overkill though, before that got shut down. I think most rational people agreed on that.

Of course COVID "interests" me, of course it concerns me. It's been of significant importance over the last 2+ years for everyone, but now the importance of COVID in the grand scheme of things is waning, along with the risk it presents. I didn't realise this was a thread just for COVID Hobbyists.

Although, admittedly, what interests me most are COVID bores (hobbyists) who appear to thrive on the doom of it all, and seem as though they would miss it when its gone. Certain people give the impression that they are eagerly awaiting the next bad wave/mutation/research of long term effects so they can go "Ah! See! I told you so!".

I don't happen to think that's healthy at all.

I keep up with the thread as I am immuno compromised so the disease is of particular concern for me. Hence I have had 4 jabs (so far) had to retire from work earlier than planned, and curtailed my social life a fair bit. Sounds like a **** hobby.
Pretty sure if I was fit and healthy I would be nowhere near this thread.

Probably the reason the Scots seemingly have the highest amount of patients in hospital with Covid from the pandemic so far at the moment https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-60806381

@Uther Those Immuno-T results you had back. Did they send any accompanying information explaining the results?

I ask because that last result that shows if you've had covid 19 and produced antibodies. So does that mean you must have been in contact with the virus? As yours shows above 0 but not enough to be a full positive.

That value will be within the inaccuracy of the measurement so it can't be taken as a sign of previous infection.

Nope, just the results. Pretty sure I've avoided covid so far (I think I would know if I hadn't) tbh I was more interested in the T cell and anti body results as I am on strong immuno suppressants.

I wasn't really meaning a full on infection, but I was questioning that if you have above zero in that particular test, does that imply that at least some actual covid virus has actually been in contact with your immune system at some point, even if it wasn't enough to actually become infected/symptomatic.

No, what I mean is at 1 U/ul, they can't say with any certainty that the measurement is correct.

I have no other covid infection to compare with, but I've just about recovered from it, I tested positive just over 2 weeks ago. I'd say it's not as bad as flu in that it didn't have the longevity. I had 12-24 hours of feeling very flu like though. Fever, vivid dreams, night sweats for a few nights and about a week or so of dizzy spells, headaches and now I'm just exhausted after doing anything. Walk around the park is still a 1hr recovery and an early night. I reckon I've got a few weeks before I'm back to normal. I really wish I hadn't have caught it but my other half is a teacher so really, there was no escaping it.
