COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

It has gone up a bit since schools etc went back... to be expected. Thankfully the same variant so in theory it shouldn't shoot up. Graph below..

that graph means absolutely naff all

No one tests no one isolates so saying its at a certain level is meaningless

No one tests?
That’s odd, I could have sworn I did 2 this week as usual!
I wonder what they were then?

Also can we ban that ScotchHop idiot that keeps ‘laugh’ reacting to every post?
It adds absolutely nothing to an otherwise relatively useful discussion.

After my covid spell I have been left with a troublesome cough as I have some mucus lined in my throat that I just cannot get rid and it is making life a misery at work and home. Hoping it goes away soon as it has been a week now.

I've noticed a major uptake in mask wearers on the tube and busses so I'll probably join them soon as it'll also keep me face warm :o

At first that is what I thought then I realised they can look at the hospital levels and look at the professions that still test then extrapolate the data to work out the COVID levels across the wider population.

I ended up watching the funeral in A&E yesterday as the heart palpitations I've had on and off since having Covid six weeks ago became progressively more frequent over the weekend and turned into chest tightness and pain.

Good time to go to A&E though! Got seen in 5 minutes. Got a slew of tests done and no immediate issue, but I'm probably going to need to go back to my GP and have a long term ECG to see what's going on. My heart has definitely not been the same since Covid :(

I had a few drinks Friday for the first time in ages which I know is a risk factor for these things. I'm going to be teetotal or the forseeable future, not that I was a big drinker these days anyway.

Certain people like to talk about COVID as just a cold/flu but we've got 3 people at work with serious heart related issues due to COVID! (all medically diagnosed) albeit only one of those was purely caused by COVID and the other 2 compounded existing issues.

EDIT: One of them had nothing like a good experience with A&E and the doctor attending them has been sacked apparently for sending them home with blood pressure in the high 130s over 90 after they were readmitted the next day at potentially lethal 180+ levels.

Well, the roads were absolutely deserted, no one's doing anything, no events, no sport. Not surprised it was quiet.

Reminded me of the lockdown, though there was a bit more traffic later on. I was unfortunately on the evening shift at work so still had to go in - arrived in the work car park and I was the only car there and the whole surrounding area completely deserted.

I'm probably going to stay masking in public for the foreseeable future, hopefully until we have some developments in IgA boosting nasal vaccines that could finally put a dent on the transmissibility of this thing.

It is a bit of a faff, but I don't want to lose the dice roll and regret it for the rest of my life.

As you probably know I've been dealing with negligent staff for 12 years and all I can say if he was sacked for that he must have been a repeat offender.
In 12 years I've only known 4 Clinicians sacked, if everybody got sacked for one mistake there would be no staff.

There was a bit more to it than that but I only vaguely know the full details - my colleague could have very easily died due to being sent home in the condition he was.
