COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

But if I can prove I have immunity what's annoying Is the inconsistent approach where some countries will accept lft proof rather than pcr.

Uk and Netherlands will let anyone in. Dubai anyone with a test.

Etc

Countries are free to set their own rules and you can't prove you have immunity to an acceptable standard.

Sad its Germany’s choice have to be so strict.

Yet we know they let in maybe 1/4 million people from ukraine via the Polish border without even a test let alone vaccination - which is selective application of the rules.

When you're fleeing a warzone perhaps they'll let you in.

They could ask them to take a test first or ask them to remain in Poland. Bear in mind they are already in Poland to get to the German border.

Its not like they are stepping out of Odessa into Berlin.

Over two million Ukranian refugees entered Poland so good on Germany for accepting some of them with the minimum of fuss.

Dragging refugess into your whine about not being allowed into Germany for a holiday shows you in a very poor light.

Why are people still quoting case numbers like it means anything? It's not translating into needing ventilation in hospital and deaths, which is what matters. If you are positive it's not a big deal at all. Time to move on with life.

But it clearly shows selective use of policy towards people who are not in immediate threat or danger.

I am fully aware of the Refugee situation, more than most. I have both friends and family in the region I cannot visit in Germany due to their rules.

deaths are up 22% over the last 7 days…

A selective policy which allows in refugees to reduce the burden on other countries I'm fine with.

You have a choice not to get vaccinated or to get vaccinated and go to Germany. Which is most important to you?

Does anyone fully understand the covid rules for entry to Germany?

Do I need to be double vaxxed or will a certificate or recovery do - for tourism?

Are you going over there for some sort of a rally or going out there to protest about them letting in refugees fleeing from a war torn country?

But numbers in hospital are increasing and looking at ventilator numbers they have just turned into what looks like an upward trend.

You are right about case numbers though, they will fall off very soon as free testing is ending, then we will only have hospital numbers to go off, if they are still accessible.

Everyone will soon be moaning if we get back to regular treatments being cancelled because Covid is filling up the ventilators

In theory Germany percieve the risk of potentially millions of untested or unvaccinated refugees as low. Otherwise they would mandate compulsory tests at the border.

If I was to get vaccinated now it would take what nearly 60 days until I was able to travel?

Am I better off trying to get covid for a positive pcr test and then it's only a 28 day wait?

It's a minimum of eight weeks to get two doses plus a further two weeks after your second dose.

To see friends who have fled ukraine so that I can pass on goods, charity and money and help find accommodation etc.

I already went to kyiv in Jan, warsaw 2 weeks ago but I can't get to Germany to help...

.

Good man. We need more people like you. Hope you're able to get in on humanitarian grounds. Good luck and stay safe!

I'm not part of a registered charity etc it's just to help some friends and family of friends here as we know people from the ukranian region/poland and have previously housed disadvantaged children from Belarus and those affected by Chernobyl.

My parents are too old to make these journeys but if I can't get into Germany to help (i speak basic german and engrish) then I can't help as much as I want to. Which makes this very difficult.

Well regardless you're doing a lot more than most people who just talk about it. Hope you're able to go and help. :)
