COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Thinking about this even more, it would be most efficient for the government to have most WFH so they can move to a smaller location. Rather then trying to fill the building just to satisfy ideology.
Actually very little gets sorted by a committee, why not just have one person making all the decisions. Then you need a much smaller location still. :p

It's taken me nearly a month to clear the cough....but it has finally pretty much gone. Never usually get that with a cold, which is over in a couple of days, although LFTs have been negative.

I've always said the best possible power structure is a benign dictatorship. Of course I would have to be the dictator otherwise how would I be sure it was benign? :D

Do you mean that the LFT's were negative during the prolonged cough period but positive when you initial got Covid..?

If they took two seconds to think, then no. Nine times out of ten they message, then five minutes later they go 'its okay I've figured it out'.

So you still get asked the questions, but now you can choose to ignore them. And people wonder why some organizations are asking people to return to the office.

Similar here. I had COVID a few weeks ago causing an operation to be postponed. After the first week I tested negative on a home flow test. But the cough still lingers.

Ironically I seem to have caught it in the hospital having a consultation about the operation that was cancelled because they gave me COVID :)

Ah so you're putting words in my mouth, awesome.

No, they message, I'm doing my job so don't read it instantly, then when I go to read it they've used their head and read the how-to's we have for everything and they've done it themselves.

Whereas before, I'd be working, they'd come into the office and ask the question, I'd stop work, stop my workflow (which if I'm writing code is a royal pain in the arse) then get side tracked for however long trying to get back to what I was doing.

We get it, it doesn't work for you, let it drop pumpkin :D

LFTs were negative in the first 5 or so days before I ran out.

ah, understand. Last October we both caught Covid - but it took five days before the LFT's showed a positive result. We were isolating up to that time as my wife, more so than me, was pretty ill.

This time I have started with symptoms from the beginning of the week, well Sunday, and just tested positive again yesterday.
A guess but perhaps last October was the Delta variant and this one possibly a Omicron type...? Still not great regardless of type.

I work with people like you.

To be fair to Stretch, I think he wants to be out of the house. Lots of people at my place are the same - especially younguns and those with younguns.

The key is you now have the choice, which if it doesn't work on either side will be reflected in performance and dealt with that way.

Hi travelling soon as, to France, Germany, Czech Republic and Austria by car. I'm quiet clear about the rest of the countries but slightly confused about Germany. I'm travelling with my son he's 17 and had one vaccine, and I'm fully vaccinated. Not sure if he's allowed in Germany by having a pcr or antigen test, or he's not allowed at all if he's not fully vaccinated?

Annoyingly, despite 4 jabs + antivirals, my mother still got long covid - in her case, heart palpitations that need to be monitored. The doctors seem to mostly shrug it off and hope it resolves itself in the coming months. Multiple doctors all signed off on confirming at as being caused by Omicron.

Had to see an patient last week, at midnight, for an emergency admission.
They were deaf, could only lip-read and had covid. Which meant I couldn't wear a mask for much of the time, and had to use a stupid visor instead.
I can definitely say the visors do absolutely nothing. Feeling awful!
