COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

I had my covid/flu/pneumonia jab on Saturday morning.

I had the worst and I mean, WORST diarrhea of my life during Saturday night.

Think needing to put an emergency wash on at 1am and having to have a shower.

My doctor has now put me on antibiotics coz it seems I had an allergic reaction to the covid.

Skin was all red and hot and swollen at the injection sight. :(

That is awful. I am a pro vaxxer but I do believe getting two or three in one go can be a bit overwhelming for some people's immune systems.

My daughter and I had our covid and flu jabs about two weeks ago and both felt terrible for a fee days after. Run down, sniffly and absolutely aching.

My wife had hers last week and felt rough the next day but for days after was covered with hives, top to toe. Piriton helped a bit but it kept flaring up. She has never had anything like it.

Managed to get in to see a G.P. at the end of the week and was told she shouldn't have had the double jab, due to other health issues, and they should have been given a week apart. It has triggered a reaction to things she was never sensitive too before. Looks like nuts in Crunchy Nut Cornflakes is one, jury is out on tomato at the mo. She was put on regular antihistamines for now with the possibility of allergen testing if it keep happening.

My son has complex health needs and is considered high risk but they still haven't managed to arrange his vaccinations, as he needs to be monitored afterwards and has wheelchair access requirements.

I hope you recover quickly :)

Hi,

Anybody had this new variant in covid ? My sore throat is horrible had it a week and half and its really slow in getting better. Anybody have the same symptom ?

There is actually an all purpose Covid/Man Flu/Hypochondriacs thread for posts like this.... so the rest of us can be spared basically.

Fortunately no, but the sore throat I had from the first COVID infection was quite odd in that it felt like it was floating and deeper like it was where the lungs branch off rather than the upper respiratory tract. So far fortunately had very mild re-infections.

Never got much last time but this time my throats like a razor blade.

My last known covid infection in late September '22 began with an horrendously sore throat, then felt like a head cold, only in week two did my chest start to feel tight.

As every other time, barely coughed at all.

Still struggling with fatigue, poor fitness and poor stamina these days. Not started looking for a new job yet after taking ill health retirement last year due to long covid.

How long did your sore throat last ? Had mine for over a week now.

Not playing it just saying the sore throat from it is a horrendous this time and was seeing if anybody had experienced the same thing.
Yeah I had covid at the beginning of Sept and the sore throat was horrendous and felt as bad as when I had tonsillitis many years ago. It was bizarre though, my throat wasn't swollen, there was no major inflammation either, just felt like having glass / razor blades in there constantly.

I've had covid once before but this time round it felt completely different. Sore throat lasted about 1.5 weeks and had a cough for about 5 weeks

It's because covid is attacking your immune system from the first time you had covid.

Any random virus that you could easily fight off you're now starting to struggle against.

The gradually getting worse covid symptoms each time is to be expected.

Until society comes up with something that will fully defeat covid this trajectory will continue.

Never looked at it like that, sore throat is a little better today but still there crazy how a sore throat can last this long.

While COVID can have a huge effect all over the body degrading your core "vitality" and longer term impact I don't think the majority of people's immune system is being hit that hard in the longer run. I had COVID pretty rough the first time, 2nd and 3rd time I barely knew I was ill.

Interestingly, and I don't miss it, I've not had a single proper cold since 2019 yet - I'm kind of dreading the coming winter season which could be when I get the first one proper in ~5 years!

With a viral infection the sore throat is usually caused by inflammation triggered by the presence of the virus which is the body's first step in fighting it, a lingering sore throat is generally due to a weakened immune system or the presence of a secondary (usually bacterial) infection at the site.
