****CRACKING deal on 4GB 8500 Kits from Kingston @ £39.99 Inc****

I have had one or two blue screens since switching to 8GB of this, so I ran mem test for Windows (4* 3*2047 1*Available RAM) and had 1 error. Does this mean the RAM is faulty? (I have it set at 2.2V 5-5-5-15)

On the subject of this memory. I just received mine yesterday and for some reason i can`t for the life of me get this Kingston DDR2 Ram Blend
mode Prime95 stable at anything above 8**mhz with correct timings of 2.2V 5-5-5-15 when overclocking the cpu and the computer just resets itself during Prime95 memory test.

I`m sure the P5Q Deluxe motherboard supports the ram, and have the latest bios installed on it, so, do you think it could be a bad memory on one stick or both??? and is there anyway to find out for sure???

I prefusly had and still have the Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR2 6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) kit which runs at 923mhz with 2.2V 4-4-4-12 timings with the same cpu overclock on my computer and seem to get a better EVEREST Memory Benchmark score.

Also why does the memory show up as PC2-6400 in every windows tool when its suposto be PC2-8500+??? if it's really just PC2-6400 ram that can be overclocked to 1066MHz, then shouldn't the ram be dubbed as PC2-6400 not PC2-8500???

I asked the same question on the previous page, so look back a little for the answer :)

Hi Sylver123,

When you removed the old memory and installed the new memory did you do a complete reset of the bios back to default settings?

It normal for the memory to show up as PC2-6400, it a standard setting that is used In order to maintain compatibility with the multitudes of motherboards and BIOS revisions out there, the SPD values are programmed at the fastest available parameters defined by JEDEC (which is PC2-6400 at 1.8v).

Try different slots or try one stick at a time.

I used the saved overclock profile that i made on the P5Q Deluxe that was used with previous Corsair Ram in, and set the correct timings for this new ram and saved the profile.

Do you think i should reset the bios back to default settings and reply my setting from scratch to see if that helps???

I think you should reset the bios back to default settings, it is good practice.

Re-enter your settings from scratch and you will need to do it for all and setup a new overclock profile.

Well, ive just reset my bios back to default settings and re-apply all settings from scratch and the computer still resets itself during Prime95 memory test when this memory at 1047mhz with timings of 2.2V 5-5-5-15 which it should handle no problem. I just don`t have a clue if its the memory that`s bad or maybe even the memory controller on the motherboards is flakey at high memory mhz speeds.

my mate had loads of problems and couldn't get his 4 x 2gb sticks to work either, i helped him through it and still couldn't get the pc to boot @ 1066 and his mobo is an abit p35 pro.

he sent me 2 x 2gb as it was no good to him and those ran fine at 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v but i already had a +0.10 mch (not sure what the default is), i found that they were sloer than my cheap transcend at only 1000mhz 5-5-5-16.

desperate to see if i could get both sets working together i tried everything trying to get them to run stable at 1000mhz 5-5-5-16 as that was the max my transcend can do and they just wouldn't have it, I left it till today and i now have them running but at only 950mhz 5-5-5-16 @ 2.1v and increase the mch to +0.35.

@Dusty increase your mch voltage, if that dont work try at lower ram speeds.

HI!
Installed 2x2gb of this RAM TODAY!

set 5-5-5-15 in bios and 1066mhz WORKS FINE!

PLAYED 3 hours of FEAR 2 and UNDERCOVER ... did not have crashings.

in CPU-Z shows 5:8, is it ok?

Today will do Overcklock of CPU and RAM and tell hjow it goes

I too cannot get this ram to go to 1066mhz on my GA-EP45-UD3P mobo at 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v. I have 8gig in and i can only get it to run at 800mhz, Even with 2 sticks it won't work. I got it to post at 940mhz but just freezes at the windows loading screen.

Have you tried increasing your NB voltage?

Right, probably a completely stupid question but would buying this RAM give a cheapish boost to my system? (Sorry, when it comes to RAM I know very little) :o

CPU: E6320 @2.9GHz
Ram: OCZ PC6400 (4x1GB)
Motherboard: Gigabyte 965P-DS3

I'm sure I could clock my processor higher but the OCZ ram is holding it back.

Purely hypotethical of course but if it was worth it I may be tempted to get two sticks of the kingston when getting my new gfx upgrade (Reward to myself for passing my exams)

After reading recent comments I am giving these a miss... error in memtest and not running at rated speeds does not sound good.

Only if you overclock will you see a boost as the RAM (and thus the CPU) should clock higher.

I can get the ram to run at 1066, and the MY E6750 to run at 3Ghz, but they will not run together. More testing me thinks.

Does anyone know of a good guide to my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 mobo anywhere ???

I have had the ram running @ 2.25v, the MCH running at +.2v & the CPU @ 1.4v. My CPU is not an issue it is sat under a True 120a Black. so there is no issue there, the case is a classic Coolermaster 110a with front, top and rear fans, the CPU as a 120mm Noctua sucking air to the rear exhaust. so heat inside the case is not an issue. There is a Thermalright Trad with a pair of 92m fans for the VGA, so again heat is not an issue.

HELP

Well, finally after 2 days of changing bios settings, system crashes, resets, etc and a hole lot of stress I got them working on my system now.

I have them running stable at 1107MHz with timings of 5-5-5-13 and DRAM voltage of 2.3v.

I was wondering, do these scores look ok for this memory???

EVEREST Memory Benchmark:

Memory Read score: 8256

Memory Write score: 7324

Memory Copy score: 7859

Memory Latency score: 59.4 ns

That good news that you got them working.

Your scores look fine.

I have included my score this is from 4*2GB sticks at 1081MHz with timings of 5-5-5-15 and DRAM voltage of 2.2v.

EVEREST Memory Benchmark from version 5.01:

I found that Bank B Performance Level was being set to 8, and A was 7, set both to 7 and repeated EVEREST Memory Benchmark

Memory Read score: 9113MB/s

Memory Write score: 9533MB/s

Memory Copy score: 9151MB/s

Memory Latency score: 57.1 ns
